w. L. OFFICER.
ROPE END HEAD.
APPLICATION FILED MAY 25, I920.

UNITED STATES WYMAN L. OFFICER, 0F WARREN, MINNESOTA.
ROPE-END HEAD.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 23, 1921.
Application filed May 25, 1920. Serial No. 384,217.
To aZZ whom it may concern Be it known that I, WVYMAN L. OFFICER, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Varren, in the county of Marshall and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hope- End Heads, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in rope-end heads, and has for its object to provide an improved means for clamping a cable to a ring, hasp and the like used for lifting and effecting the sealing of a car door.
The principal object of the invention is to provide a rope-end head that does not take up much space.
With these and other objects in view which will become apparent as the descrip tion proceeds, the invention resides in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described and claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which like characters of reference indicate like parts throughout the several figures, of which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a ropeend head constructed according to my invention, and
Fig. 2 is a similar view showing the re verse side thereofh The rope-end head is in the nature of a forked plate with a raised groove 3 ridged or tinned where the cable is bound against it, and shoulders 4 with eyes in them for clamping a cable 5 to it by rivets 6. The cable may be further secured by smearing solder over it in front of the rivets. The eyes in the forks are for connecting it to a lug by means of a pin and key. This end of the fastener may have any form to suit the purpose it is desired to use it for.
I claim:
In a device of the class described, the combination of a forked plate with a raised groove, shoulders provided integrally on the groove and plate, eyes provided in the shoulders, rivets extending through the eyes for clamping a cable to it, and means for connecting it to a lug.
