IMPROVEMENT IN IRON FENCE-GATES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 138,071, dated April 22, 1873 application filed December 6, 1872.
' To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CLARK T. BUSH, of Oneonta, in the county of Otsego and State of New York, have invented certain Improvements in Iron Gates, of which the following is a specification:
My invention consists in the various improved devices described herein.
Referring to the drawing accompanying this specification: The main frame of the gate consists of a single bar of iron, H, bent so as to form the three sides of a parallelogram, and having an eye turned on each end of the bar for a hinge. The frame is braced by the rod B, the lower end of which has an eye turned to fit upon the lower gate-hinge. The upper and forward end is shaped so as to fit on the lower side of the rod H, and is adjustably secured thereto by the band n. By means of the brace-rod B and band a the gate may be adjusted to the grade upon which the fence is built. The pickets P P are secured to the upper and lower sides of the frame, and the latch is attached to the front side thereof.
What I claim as my invention is.-
The gate consisting of the single bar H, pickets P P, and adjustable brace-rod B provided with an eye to fit upon the lower gatehinge, and secured at the upper end by the adjusting-band a, substantially as described and shown.
