Description

R. SEJNOHA.
FOLDING AND EXTENSION STOOL 0R CHAIR.
APPLICATION FILED mu 3 1920.
'1 379,129. v Patented May 24, 1921.
" ATTORN/EV UNITED STATE RICHARD SEJ'NOI-IA, OF WOLSEY, SOUTH DAKOTA.
FOLDING AND EXTENSION STOOL 0R CHAIR.
Application filed July 3, 1920.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, RICHARD SEJNOHA, a citizen of the United States, residing at Wolsey, in the county of Beadle and btate of South Dakota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Folding and Extension Stools or Chairs, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to folding and ex tension stools or chairs and has for its primary object to provide such an article having the necessary requisites to provide ease to the fishermen, waterfowl hunters or others.
Another object of this invention is to provide a seat that can be adjusted to the desired height and will offer no inconveniences or encumbrance whatever to its user.
A further object of this invention is to provide a seat as described that can be folded when not in use and that provides suitable gripping means whereby it can be easily and conveniently carried.
A still further object of this invention is the provision of a folding and extension stool that will be convenient in use, simple in construction, cheap in manufacture.
With these and further objects in view, the invention consists in the combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter set forth and claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which like numerals designate corresponding parts throughout and wherein Figure l is a perspective view of the device, unfolded and ready for use.
Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the device, the seat being folded.
Fig. 3 is a detail view illustrating the connection of the seat with the disk, and
Fig. A is a detail sectional view of the collar and set screw at the lower end of the sleeve.
In the drawings the numeral 10 designates a sleeve exteriorly screw threaded at both extremities and provided at its upper end with a disk 11 having a depending collar 12 substantially screwed to the said sleeve. Bolts 13 have their lower extremity screwed in openings provided in the disk 11 and are retained therein by means of nuts 15. The upper end of said bolts is provided with a loop 16, the purpose of which will be presently made clear. A seat formed of two parts 17 and 18 provided with gripping means 19 and hingedly connected as at 2 0 is Specification of Letters Patent.

provided over the disk 11. The hinge bolts 21 are made longer than the hinge so that they can engage the loops 16 of the upstandlng bolts 13, the hinge bolts 21 are then riveted to prevent the accidental removal of said loops 16. The material of the seat may be made of wood or metal and Y if metal is used .the hinges provided may be made integral with the seat. I
It will thus be seen that when extended the seat is supported on the disk 11 and that it is retained thereon by means of the bolts 13 and loops 1,6. Extending within the sleeve 10 and proeCt-ing downwardly thereof is a rod 22 flared at its upper extremity to prevent its removal from sleeve 10 and having its lower end pointed as at 23, and adapted to be partly engaged in the soil. A collar 24 is provided with a set screw 25 having a flared end 26 and is screwed to the lower extremity of the sleeve 10. This is adapted to hold the sleeve fast at any desired height on said rod through the medium of the set screw 25.
A disk 27 having a depending collar 28 also provided with set screw 29 is inserted on rod 22 and capable of upward and downward movement therealong. The said disk may be fastened at any desired height on said rod by means of the flared set screw 29. The rod 22 is provided at its lower extremity with a laterally projecting lug 30 adapted to prevent the disk 27 from sliding off the rod 22.
A chain 31 is fastened to the disk 27 and is adapted to retain the hunters dog. In such a case the set-screw 29 is loosened to allow the disk to turn freely on said rod, thus preventing the dog from becoming entangled in the chain.
From the foregoing description it is thought that the construction of my invention will be readily understood and that few changes can be effected without departing from the spirit of the invention and the scope of the claim.
What I claim as new is,-
In an article of the class described, a seat having two sections hingedly connected, a disk screwed to the upper end of a sleeve, bolts formed with a loop and engaging said hinges and said disk, said seat sections being horizontally supported flatwise on said disk, 2. rod within said sleeve, said rod extending outwardly and downwardly thereof, means to hold the sleeve firmly on said rod, a disk slidably mounted on the exte- V In testimony whereof I affix my signature riorly projecting part of said rod, means in the presence oftwo Witnesses.
whereby the second-named disk may be sesurely fastened to said rod, said rod being RICHARD SEJNOHA' pointed and formed with a laterally pro- Witnesses:
