Description

UNITED STATES JOHN J. WANGENSTEIN AND HAROLD FEGRAEUS, OF DULUTH. MINNESOTA.
INSULATING MATERIAL.
N 0 Drawing.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that we, JOHN J. IVANGEN- STEIN and HAROLD FneRAEUs, both citizens of the United States, residing at Duluth, in the county of St. Louis and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Insulating Materials, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to insulating materials and has special reference to such being composed entirely of peat and moss or peat and a substance having the same general characteristics of moss.
The principal object of the invention is to produce an efficient material of this character as economically as possible and one composed of materials which are well known to be in abundance in many parts of the country.
Other objects and advantages of our invention will appear in the further description thereof. I
In the process of n'xanufacturing our improved form of insulating material the peat is preferably first thoroughly pulverized and dried either by the application of artificial heat or in the sun and the moss, which is of a more fibrous nature, though exceedingly porous, is left as nearly as possible in its natural state but is thoroughly dried. Then the moss is disintegrated and thoroughly mixed with the dried peat, when the mixture thus combined is subjected to a Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 24, 1921.
Application filed September 11, 1920. Serial No. 409,678.
mechanical pressure and made into any desired torm such as thln board like pieces or in the torm 0t pipe covering, well known in the art, or, in the event of its being used in 2. An insulating material composed of,
pulverized, dried peat and disintegrated, dried moss.
An insulating material composed principally of thoroughly dried and pulverized peat having moss incorporated therein.
In testimony whereof we hereunto affix our signatures in the presence of two witnesses.
JOHN J. WANGENSTEIN. HAROLD FEGRAEUS.
IVitnesses:
S. Gno. STEVENS, S. C. BRONSON.
