To all whom it may concern Be it knownthat 'I, IsAAo E. HOLT, a.
citizen of the United States, residing at Seattle, in the county of King and State of Washington, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Display-Frames, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in display frames and the object of my invention is to provide a display frame that may be readily assembled into a rigid device for holding display cards without the use of nails, screws or other fastenings.
Another object is to provide a display frame that may be readily disassembled and packed for shipment in a relatively small space.
A further object is to provide a display frame that is adjustable in accordance with the length of display cards used and which may be joined in series with other frames of like dimensions for use in displaying a plurality of advertisement cards.
Still further objects are to provide a display frame preferably composed of sheet metal, which is substantial and durable in construction, efficient in use, and simple and inexpensive to manufacture.
With the above and other objects in view which will appear asthe description proceeds, the invention consists of the novel construction and adaptation of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
I accomplish these objects by devices illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein-- Figure 1 is a view in front elevation of a display frame embodying the features of my invention with display cards removed;
Fig. 2 is a view in transverse vertical section taken on a broken line 2, 2 of Fig. 1 showin a display card installed within the body 0 the frame;
Fig. 3 is an enlarged fragmentary view in transverse vertical section taken on a broken line 3, 3 of Fig. 1, showing display cards installed within the body of the frame and also in the auxiliary card support;
Fig. 4 is an enlarged fragmentary view in horizontal section taken on a broken line 4, 4 of Fig. 1;
Fig. 5 is a fragmentary view 1n front elevation showing the means of securing the members of two adjoining frames '5 and Fig. 6 is a detail View in perspective of a modified form of bracket clamp for securing the frame to a stationary object.
Referring to the drawings, throughout which like reference numerals designate like parts, the numerals '10 and 11 respectively deslgnate the upper and lower horizontal frame members which are longitudinally bent upon themselves to form channel bars, for the reception of the upper and lower.- 'edges'of a display card 12 and for securing the upper and lowerends of vertical spacing members hereinafter more fully described. The upper channel bar 10 is provided with a lip 13 which is bent backwardly and up wardly to form-an auxiliary channel support for the reception of the lower edge of a display card 14. I
The numerals 15 and 16 designate vertical spacing members the upper and lower ends of which are doubly bent inwardly upon:
themselves as at 17 to snugly encompass the outer flanges 18 of the channel bars 10 and 11.
The vertical spacing members 15 and 16 are provided with bracket clamps l9 and 20 having jaws 21 adapted to fit snugly around said spacing members. Said bracket clamps are further provided with flanges 22 having holes 23 therein by means of which they may be nailed or screwed to a shelf 24 or other stationary objectas clearly shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings.
The numerals 25 and 26 designate vertical partition bars which are of sufficient lengths adapting their end portions to fit within the channel ways of the channel bars 10 and 11 and adapted to be slidably moved back and forth when the display frame is assembled.
In assembling my display frame the bent ends 17 of the vertical spacing members 15 and 16 are slipped over the outer ends of the channel bars 10 and 11. The display card 12 is then placed in the frame with its upper and lower edges fitting within the channel ways of said channel bars. Said bracket clamps are slidably adjusted on said vertical spacing members and their jaws 21 are pressed into frictional engagement therewith.
Referring to Fig. 5 of the drawings, it
willbe apparent that any number of frames may be readily formed into one unit by bringing the ends of each two channel bars 10 and likewise 11 in abutment under the bent ends 17 of the Vertical spacing members 15.
The ends 17 are bent to snugly fit around the outer flanges 18 of'the channel bars 10 and 11 and are adapted tosecure the display frame in a rigid rectangular position.
The facility with which my display frame may be assembled and disassembled, the
thereof it will be understood that the apparatus shown is merely illustrative and that such changes may be resorted to as are within the scope and spirit of the invention.
I What I claim is:
1. A display frame comprising upper and lower channel bars, vertical spacing members adapted to retain said channel bars in parallel spaced apart relation, the ends of said vertical spacing members being bent inwardly to fit around said channel bars and adapted to be slidably moved thereon, said channel bars being adapted to receive and retain the edges of a display card, and vertical partition bars adapted to fit over said display card with their ends resting in said Channel bars.
2. A display frame comprising upper and lower channel bars, vertical spacing members adapted to retain said channel bars in parallel spaced apart relation, the ends of said vertical spacing members being bent inwardly to fit around said channel bars and adapted to be slidably moved thereon, said channel bars beingadapted to receive and retain the edges of a display card, vertical partition bars adapted to fit over said I display card with their ends resting in said channel bars, and bracket clamps adjustably mounted on said vertical spacing members.
