To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, ESTELLA L. THOMPSON, a citizen of the United States, residing South Jacksonville, in the county of Duval and State of Florida, have invented new and useful Improvements in Curtain-Poles and ShadeRoller Brackets, of which the following is a specification.

The purpose of the invention is to provide a device of the character mentioned formed from a single piece of metal rod bent to provide a shade roller receiving portion and the curtain pole receiving portion, the rod being so bent as to space the parts re ceiving the shade roller and curtain pole away from the front of the window frame on which the device is attached and is formed at one end with a tapering threaded shank by means of which it may be readily attached to the window frame.

The invention is illustrated and described in a specific embodiment to which, however, it is not to be restricted. The right is reserved to make such changes or alterations as the actual reduction to practice may suggest in so far as such changes or alterations are compatible in spirit with the subjoined claim. Referring to the drawings, the invention is shown attached to the inner face of a window frame 1, the upper portion only of which is shown. The two brackets comprising the inventions are made identical and formed each from a single piece of metallic rod one end of which is tapered and formed with a thread simulating a wood screw, thus providing the threaded shank 2. The rod adjacent the threaded shank is bent at right angles to the latter as indicated at 3 and t ien curved to the shape of a U as indicated at 4-. The rod is then bent back on itself as indicated at 5 and then formed with a returned bend as indicated at 6 to provide a loop portion 7 in which one of the trunnions of a shade roller may rest. From the bent back portion 6, the rod is directed in a straight line in alinement with the shank 2, as indicated at 8 and is terminated in a right 'angularly disposed upstanding portion 9.

In the use of the improved brackets they are employed in pairs and a bracket is attached on either side of the window frame as indicated at in Fig. 1, the threaded shank 2 being made to penetrate the window frame so that the right angularly disposed portion 3 lies against the window frame and depends in substantially a vertical position, thus causing the U-shaped portion to stand vertical as well as the loop portion 7. The right angularly disposed portion 9, therefore, stands vertical but is disposed above the axis of the bracket which is considered to be a line drawn through the center of the straight portion 8 and the shank 2. The U-shaped portion of the bracket having its one leg lying against the window frame, acts as a brace for the outer ends or portions of the bracket, the loop 7 of which receives either stud of a shade roller, such as that indicated by 11. The upstanding right angularly disposed portions are designed to receive a curtain pole which may be formed with diametrically disposed holes therethrough, through which the right angularly disposed portions 9 project.

If desired the curtain pole may be placed between the window frame and the shade roller 11, the U-shaped portions 4 of the brackets providing means for so supporting a curtain pole.

The invention having been described, what is claimed as new and useful is:

A device of the kind described formed from a single piece of metallic rod bent to provide a shank which is externally threaded for attachment in the wood-work of a window frame, the rod being bent at right angles to the shank and formed to the shape of a U which connects with this right angularly bent portion, the rod at the end of the U being formed with a return bend and then again bent back on itself to provide a depending loop for the reception of a shade roller stud, the rod being then bent so as to aline with the shank and being terminated in an upstanding right angularly disposed portion for the reception of a curtain pole.
