ADELARD JOSEPH DUBEE, OF GLENS FALLS, NEW YORK.
SASH-TIGHTENER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed July 23, 1920. Serial No. 398,348.
T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that LADELARD Josnrrr DU- BEE, citizen of the United States of America, residing at Glens Falls in the county of Warren and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Sash-Tighteners, of which the following is a specification. V
This invention relates to improvements in sash tighteners, and the principal object is to provide a device of this nature which will be simple of construction, cheap to manufacture and effective for the'purpose for which it is designed.
To this end the invention consists in certain novel constructions, combinations and arrangements of parts, the essential features of which are fully set forth in the accompanying description and claim and which are illustrated in the accompanying drawing consisting of one sheet, in which Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view of a' window with my improvement in'place.
Fig. 2 is an enlarged detail view of the device per se detached.
Figs. 3 and 4 are views similar to Flg. 2,
but illustrating modified forms of the invention.
Like characters of reference refer to like parts in all views.
This invention contemplates the providing of a device which may be permanently is shown at 4, and between the two sashes are the usual parting strips 5.. The inside stop and jamb are represented by 6 and 7, respectively.
Secured to the j amb 7 by a screw 8 which passes through a rubber washer 9 is a member 10, the free end of which is internally threaded in the form shown in Figs. 1 and 2. A presser member 11 is provided with a presser foot 12, a finger piece 13, and a threaded portion 14. The threaded portion 14 screws in the free end of member 10.
7 Normally when not in use, the device may be swung down to a vertical position on the jamb. When it is to be used, the device is moved to a horizontal positionand' member 11 is screwed out until foot 12 contacts the sash and presses it firmly against the blind stop or the parting strips accord mg to whether-it is the upper or lower sash whlch is operated against.
In the form .shown in Fig. 3, the ends of members 10 andv 11 -are threaded and are i Q In the form shown in Fig. 4, a turn-buckle both screwed into a sleeve 15.
16 is combined with members 10 and 11.
If made for use on the upper sash, the
WhileI have described what I deem to be the most desirable embodiments of my invention, it is obvious that many of the details may be varied without in any way departing from the spirit of my invention;
and I' do not limit myself to the exact .de-
tails of construction herein set forth nor to anything less than the whole of my invention limited only bythe appended claim.
What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is V The combination of a member provided in one end with an aperture for permitting the passage of a screw, or the like for pivotally securing said member to a window frame and provided at its opposite end with a threaded portion, a presser member provided with a threaded portion said members being held in relative adjustment by means of SZLIClftl'iIGEtClGCl portions, and manipulative means for effecting relative adjustment ofsaid members. v
In testimony whereof I have afiixed my signature.
ADELABD JosEPI-I DUBEE.
