IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII C ARTHUR A. BYERLEIN. G33 TOLEDO, 923510, 1'0 TQLEDO MACE- ENE & TOOL CUMPANY, Q15 TOLEDO, QHTO, A GQRTPORATTQN OF OHIO.
ADJUSTABLE I TiOTUR-MQUNT.
Application filed September 20, 192i).
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that l, Anrrrnr. A. BYERLEIN, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Toledo, in the county of Lucas and State of Ohio, have invented a certain new and useful Adjustable lltlotordi lount; and T do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description. of the invention, such as will enable others skilled. in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying dr wings, and to the characters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to an adjustable mount forv the drive motors of stamping machines and the like, and particularly for use in connection With machines of this class which are adjustable to adapt them to be operated in either upright or inclined positions and which have the adjustable frame part thereof carrying the motor.
The object of my invention is the provision of a simple and efficient mount of the class described which enables the motor to be easily and quickly adjusted to stand in upright position irrespective of the position of the machine frame carrying the same.
The invention is fully described in the following specification, and while in its broader aspect it is capable of embodiment in numerous forms, a preferred embodiment thereof is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which,
Referring to the drawings, 1 designates a machine frame capable of adjustment to stand in upright or inclined positions, or
to have its inclination varied, and 2 an electric drive motor mounted thereon for adj ustm ent therewith.
The motor frame is formed or provided with a base 3 having its bottom of seginental form with its curve concentric to the axis of the motor shaft.
The motor and its base are supported by a bracket 4 that is mounted on the upper portion of the frame 1 and which has its top provided with a concaved seat 5 for the motor base. The are of the seat 5 is Specification of Letters Patent.

of the same curvature as the base, being struck from the same axis, so that the base fits therein and is capable of rotary adjustment re ativc thereto to change the inclination or position of the motor relative to the frame 1 without disturbing the position of the motor axis relative to the driven gear 6 of the machine, provided of course, that the drive pinion 7 for the is carried by the motor shaft, the axis of adjustment being 6 preferably that of the drive pinion which engages the driven 6 of the machine. it is prefenble to maize the bracket seat of greater length than the base 3 to facilitate considerable range of adjustment. 7 o
The motor base is fixedly secured in ad justed position to the bracket by bolts 8 which project through apertures in the base 3 and slots 9 in the bracket flange forming the seat thereof, the slots extending lengthwise of the curvature of the seat.
It is evident that with this manner of mounting a motor on a machine frame an adjustment of the motor relative to? the frame so that the former is retained in uprig t position when the inclination of the frame is varied, may be effected in an easy and rapid manner without changing the position of the drive pinion with respect to the driven gear of the machine.
I wish it understood that my invention is not limited to any specific construction, arrangement or form of the parts as it is capable of numerous n'iodifications and changes without departing from the spirit ot the claims.
Having thus described my invention, what T claim as new ann desire to secure by Letters Patent, is,
1. In combination, a tiltable support, a bracket carried by the support and having a concaved seat on its top, a motor hzwingits frame base provided with. a curved bottom for seating in the concavity of the bracket and for adjustment lengthwise thereof to vary the position of the motor relative to the bracket, a pinion driven by the motor shaft, the curvature of the bracket seat and motor bottom being concentric to the axis of the pinion, and means for adjustably securing the motor base to the bracket.
2. The combination with a tiltable machine frame, and a driven gear carried thereby with its axis transverse to the plane of tilting adjustment of the frame, of a bracket carried by the frame and having a concaved seat, the length of which is in the plane of adjustment of the frame, a motor having the bottom of its frame base circular in form for seating in the bracket seat and for adjustment lengthwise thereof, a pinion driven by the motor and in mesh with the machine gear, the curvatures of the bracket seat and meter base being concentric to the axis of the pinion, and means for adjustabl-y connecting the motor base and bracket.
8. The combination with a tiltable machine frame, and a driven gear mounted thereon with its axis transverse to the plane of adjustment of the frame of the bracket fixed to the frame at one side m the gear and having a top flange forming a curved seat and provided with slots extending lengthwise of its curvature, a motor, a base fixed to the bottom of the motor frame and having its bottom curved to seat in and conform to the curvature of the bracket top, securing bolts connecting the base and bracket and extending through the slots of the latter, and a drive pinion carried by the motor shaft in mesh With the gear, the curvature of the bracket and base being concentric to the axis of the pinion.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto si 'ned my name to this specification.
