TABLE DISH-WASHING DEVTGE.
Specification of Letters Patent. Pate t d A 5. 1921 .Application filed March 13, 1920. Serial No. 885,618.
To all whom it may concern: Be it known that I, JEssn D. Hora, a 01121- zen of the United States, residing at Los Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles' and State of California have invented a new and useful Table Dish-Washing Device, of whlch the following is a specification.
' My invention relates to the art of housekeeping, being more particularly a table upon which dishes are placed and attached, the table being so arranged that it may be used as a diningtable and which may be used in combination with a closet in whichthe dishes upon the table are washed.
The principal object of my invention is to an apparatus of the class described whereby dishes may be handled with a little work as possible and thoroughly cleaned in an expeditious manner.
Other objects and advantages will appear hereinafter from the following description and the drawings.
Referring to the drawings, which are for illustrative purposes only,
Figure 1 1s a vertical sectional view of an apparatus showing a form of my invention.
Fig. 2 is a sectional plan view on line ..2-2, Fig. 1.-
Fig. 3 is an enlarged vertical sectional view showing a dish retaining device.
Fig. 4 is an enlarged sectional plan view of the silver retaining devices.
Fig. 5 is an enlarged vertical sectional View of a portion of the dish rack.
11 designates a water boiler which is heated'from any suitable kind of heater shown at 12, such boiler havin an outlet pipe 13 for the hot water. 14 esignates a wall in a house having a dish washi casing formin a closet '15 formed thereln, such closet being lined at the top, sides and bottom with a sheet metal lining 16. The bottom of the closet is open .as indicated at 17 so that the water may drain into a pan 18 which is provided with a perforated bottom 19 discharginto a drain pipe connection 20.
inged at 21 on the frame 22 of an openi'ng 23 formed in the wall 14is a table 25 provided at its outer end with legs 26 hinged at 27 to the table 25. The table 25 is provided with a dish rack or frame 30 formed of inverted channel bars 31 joined together in any suitable manner, the frame 30 having cross-bars 32 and diagonally arranged bars 33. The frame is also provided wit an and bar 34 which is pivotally connected at 35 ma be swung upwardly from the table.
e top of the table is grooved as indicated at '36 so that, when the rack 30 is placed 1n closedposition on the table, the top of the rack is flush with the-top of the table as shown in Fi 5. A table cloth indicated at 38 may be placed-0n the table if desired in which case the table cloth is placed upon the table before the rack is closed, and when closed the cover is securely held to the table as shown in Fig. 5.
The rack 30 is provided with retaining means for the dishes, cups, knives, forks and spoons, cons sting of the following device:
For securing the plates indicated at 40 to the table the rack is provided with a fixed finger 41 formed on one of the bars of the rack, wh ch engages one side of the flange 42 formed on the bottom of the plate. The other side of the flange is engaged by a movable finger 43 which is mounted on a rod 44 secured in any suitable manner to the bot tom of the rack 30. The movable finger 43 being supplied with any desired number of fixed and movable fingers constructed as above described.
For retaining the knives, forks and s cons in place a series of spring clips 4 are used mounted in any suitable manner on the rack 30, the shank of the respective articles being forced between the spring fingers where it is elastically held in place as shown in Figs. 2 and 4.
Whenthe table is in lower position the 0 ening 23 in the wall 14 is closed by means 0 two slidin 1 panels or doors 50, and when the table is in the position shown in Figs. 1 and 2 it is understood that the same is-ready for serving the meal. After the meal has been completed the panels 50 are moved into ways or recesses 51 and the table 25 swung upwardly into the dotted line position shown in Fig. 1 a ainst a cleat or stop-52.
Arrang pipes 53 connected to the hot water pipe 13 in any well known manner. The pipes 53 are provided with a series of spray nozzles or jets 54 which are directed or turned in the direction of the dishes on the table 25 in the closet 15 1s a series of when the table is in closed position. When it is desired to wash the dishes a valve 56 is opened by means of an operating member 57, permitting the hot water to flow through the nozzles 54 against the plates on the table. The hot Water and steam issuing from such nozzles thoroughly cleanses the plates, after which the hot water is turned off and the table permitted to remain in closed position until it is desired to use the same again.
It is to be understood that the table cloth is removed before the Washing operation takes place, the dishes are raised bodily with the rack and the table cloth may be readily removed Without removing the dishes from the rack.
I claim as my invention p 1. In combination, a casing, atable hinged to the casing arranged to form one side thereof, means on the table to retain dishes thereon, and means in the casing for directinglcleansing fluid against the dishes on the tab e.
2. In combination, acloset, a table pivotally mounted at one side of the closet arranged to close the closet when in elevated position, means on the table for securing dishes thereon, and means in the closet for directing water against the dishes on the table when the table is in elevated position.
3. In combination, a closet, a table pivotally mounted at one side of the closet arto direct streams of Water against the dishes on the rack.
5. In combination, a closet, a table pivotally mounted at one side of the closet arranged to close the closet when in elevated pos tion, a rack pivotally mounted at one end to the table arranged to seat in grooves formed in the table, dish securing means on said rack consistingof stationary fingers mounted on the rack and yielding fingers 00- operating with the stationary fingers, and means in the closet arranged to direct StI'GkaIIIS of water against the dishes on the rac In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand at Los Angeles, California, this 5th day of March, 1920.
