mamaria-ai elle. .am-ii .To all whom it may concern.' y
lle it known. that I, G-eouou Aourluila'r Simon. a eitieen ol the United States. mail a resident el Seneca, in the county of Nemaha ariel Stute of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Garage Struotures9 oi which the following ie a specin licutiou.
lily invention relates to ,garages uml a purpose ol my invention the provision oil a garege of simple ariel lire proof eoue'truetion, anal vvhieh ie lorruecl to provide a pluralit ol individual loelaere or gorilla-ie lor the individual housing ol a plurality ol' automobiles.
lt is also u. purpose of my invention to provide e garage llaviiagy a common lrivoway and a roo'l olisposeel above the roof ol the loelrers or .individual garages, the wall connectingD the root ol the rlrivevvay with beingr formeel with ivinflovvs to allow the transmieeioii oil aunlight into thel driveway and looliere.
A. further purpose of my invention is the provision ol u garage in which the vertiool` eide walls thereof are 'ormecl oit' hollow tiles with the opeuinge irl the tiles con1munioating; with. each other aurl arranged to allow a lougigitudinal circulation of air through the Walle lor preventing; the aoeumulatiou ol rlarnpness Within the Several loc-kers.
l will describe one 'lorm ol garage om* lioilying my invention and will then point out the novel features thereo'l" in a olaiin.
ligure l is a view showinga in longituilr nal eeotion one form of garage embodying my invention. i
llig. 2 is a transverse sectional. view taken on ille line .il- 2 o Fig. l and loolriiogg,r in the direction of the arrows..

The end wall N is also provided with an exit opening 2l controlled by doors 22, such opening being substantially in alinenient with the opening 18 so that a vehicle can readily pass from the opening 18 through the opening: i
At the forward end of the garage, a. partition 23 extends inwardly from the iront end wall N and terminates "it a point in spaced relation to the foremost adjacent partition 16. The partitions 16 and 23 cooperate with the front Wall N and adjacent Side wall S to provide a display room desi gnated at R in which a motor vehicle can be displayed. The front Wall N is provided with a'relatively large window 24 which is designed for the purpose of revealing the contents of. the display room R. Access is had to the display room R from the drivewey ll] through an opening 25 controlled by doors 26. lhe front wall N is also provided with an entrance opening 27 through which the vehicles can enter the driveway lV. This entrance opening 27 is controlled by doors 28 one of which is hingedly snpported upon the partition 23 while the other is carried by a partition 29 extending rearwardly from the front wall N and parallel to the partition The partition 29 is provided with a right angle extension 29, which coperates with the foremost partition 16 and the adjacent parts of the *ront and side walls to form an oiiice indicated at O. The front wall of the office O is for'ned with a window 30 and an entrance opening' 3l controlled by a. door 32. The foremost partition 16 just referred to constitutes one side wall of a supply room A, the supply room being formed by two' partitions 16 which are connected and closed at their forward end by a partition 32. Entrance to the supply room A from the oilice 0 is gained through an opening 33 controlled by a door 34, and entrance to the driveway from the office is had through an opening 35 controlled by a door 36.
Referring now to Fig. 2, it will be seen that the lockers L at each side of the garage 1are covered by roofs F which are formed of hollow tile connected by cement as indicated at 36. i s clearly shown in Figs. 2, 3 and 5, reinforcing;r metallic rods 36- extend thronpfh the cement 36, and as shown to advantage in Fig. 5, such rods are nrrangfed in staggered relation 'to each other with their confronting ends overlappinga at points directly above. the partitions lll. The roots' F are main y supported by the partitions 16 and as the latter nrc :irrmiged at intervals for a major portion oi' the length of the garage. it is obvious that the only additional means necessary in order to cilis pro- Lampen fectively support thc roofs is :z beams l? (Fig. l) which extend from the rear end wall h" to the adjacent pnriton if.
The driveway lV is covered by n ioof lfr which as shown in Fig. 2 is disposed ilrovrthe plane of the roofs l" :ind is .snpjxorml upon the posts 17, The root li" is of the construction shown in Fig. 'l .vlnfroin il will be seen that it is composed oi sheets ol' tin OI the like indica-led :it 3S. such sheets he ing spaced apart end having; interposed therebetween n sheet ot' asbestos Jltf. shown in Fig. 2, the vertical pin-tions oi" the roof F are provided at points above the roofs F with windows lll throng-h which light is supplied not only to the driven-:iv lV but to any of the loilrci's l) provided the doors of the latter nre operY This :1rrangement provides vfor the cllicimit lin-hi hn;4 of tie interior oi.' the gn-raw; it liv-ing particularly noted that the sido walls #i and Si are not provided with windows feo ih; t when the doors D are closed. the light is pw vented from enteringl the lockers li. 'lho purpose of this arrangement 1s to innintrin the niotor vehicles within the lockers in complete darkness, it having been tonni that by excluding the light,V the li l'e :ind luster o the body enamel of a niotor vehicle is nroserved..
As shown in Fig. 2. thc "vrage is y'iro- Vided with a floor ll formed oi" i' v and supported in spaced relation ground by concreto members Lll. lt wi particularly noted that the sido wells kil are also supported on concreto nilrnliorf; 4l, which are preferably omronpiv-v length with the walls.
