Be it known that I, GARRY J. DORMANDY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Troy, Rensselaer county, in the State of New cation, wherever suitable, it is particularly adapted for use in connection with that, general type of electric lighting fixture illustrated in United States Letters Patent granted to me No. 1,126,672, dated January 26, 1915, and No. 1,072,926, dated Septemher 9-, 1913.
In constructions of this general character, a lamp socketcarryi'ng theswitch key is supported on a member which is adjustably mounted. and'the reflector'or shade is connected directly to the socket by a' collar, or other suitable means. The result is, that operators, in adjusting the lamp to suit their necessities, grasp the reflector as a handle to swing the lampsupporting member, with the result that the thin sheet metal socket is twisted or bent, and often has its parts deranged. It'is, therefore, an important'object'ofmy'invention, many; others, to provide a'shade or reflector which can be' secured in operative relation to the lamp bulb engaged with the socket, byan improved support adapted to be connected to the adj ustable supporting member, so that should an operator grasp the Qreflector to use the same as a handle to shiftthe supporting member, the force'e'xerted' will not be placed upon the socket or the. lamp bulb, but will beexerted upon the adjustable-supporting "member, so
that the bulb and the socket are protected against strains or forces which would ordinarily injure the same.
My present application is a division of my prior application Serial No. 14:9,748, which was filed inthe Patent Qflice on or about February 20, 1917, Patent No. November 11,1919, and relates particularly to a shade or reflector and a support formed integral therewith and to the novel arrange ment by which the support is secured to the lamp support.
I have fully and clearly illustrated the present embodiment of my invention in the accompanying drawings to be taken as a part of this specification, iii-which drawings like reference characters indicate like parts, and in which Figure 1 is view in elevation of an electric lighting fixture showing the present embodiment of my invention applied thereto; Fig. 2 is an enlarged view in side elevation showing the shade or reflector supporting member and lamp support of Fig. 2, and Fig. 5 is a detailedperspective of the clamping device which secures the support for the shade or reflector to the lamp support. One member 4 of these joints is provided with arms 5 having alining apertured ears 6, in which'is slidably and rotatably mounted a hollow arm 38, supporting at one end a socket mem- 'ber 31 in. which is received an incandescent lamp bulb 10.
At the head of the standard 1 may be arranged a distribution box 15, having a socket or sockets to receive the plug or plugs 16, to each of which is connected a conductor l7 entering one end of the member 33 and passing therethrough, and connected to the lamp in order to convey current to the ter. The distribution box has a suitable terminal for the feed wires 15 which pass through the hollow standard 1. All of the features above described may be of the construction shown in my said patents, and need notbe described in greater detail, particularly in view vention is not limited to the specific construction of said features.
1 will now proceed to describe the improved shade or reflector and support, constituting the invention covered by my pres ent application. 29 designates generally a shade or reflector which may be made of thin sheet metal, and preferably shaped to conform to the general contour of the commercial form of incandescent lamp bulb, in connection with which it is adapted to be used, but the shade or reflector is of suflicient size so that when in position relative to the bulb, it will bear the proper relation thereto, to give the desired reflecting or shading effects.

In order to provide means for securing the shank member or attaching member 32 to the member 33, 1 form parts of the flanges 34: on the opposite longitudinal edgesof the member 32, by turning said flanges outwardly and backwardly. so as to be hooklike in cross section. as indicated at 35, and employ a clamping member adapted toeoii'perate with these hooklike flanges to clamp the member 32 in position.
' This clamping member consists of a strip of metal 3". of substantially the same length as the shank 32, and being curved in cross section to providea longitudinal channelv 37, whereby it may lflt over the member 33 on the opposite side of the, latter from the shank member 32.
