T he subject of this invention is a device for setting up forms for contents bills, posters and the like for stereotype work in rotary or flatbed printing machines.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 is a plan, Fig. 2 a section on the line BB of Fig. 1 and Fig. 3 a section on the line A-A of Fig. 1.
As shown, the device is constituted by a bed plate 1 which is originally type-high but which, except for end strips 2 and side strips 3, is cut away for the depth of one pica. Formed on the bed plate 1 in the space bounded by the strips, are grooves 4: which are parallel to the strips 2 and are each one pica in depth and one pica in width, and spaced apart the distance of one pica.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 8, 1921.
Serial No. 441,866.
Associated with the bed plate are letters 5 formed on plates the soles of which are formed with ridges 6 to mate with the grooves 4 in the bed plate 1.
It will be seen that the lettered plates may be readily applied to the bed plate in correct position without any trouble in setting up.
I claim A device for setting up forms for contents bills, posters and the like, comprising a bed-plate which is type-high but which, except for end strips and side strips, is cut away for the depth o1 one pica, the cut awa portion oi said bed plate being formed wit grooves parallel to certain 01": said strips and each one pica in depth and one pica in width, said grooves spaced apart the distance of one pica, and letters formed on plates the soles of which are formed with ridges to mate with said grooves.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
