Description
UNITED STATES EDWARD THORNDIKE LADD, 0F NIAGARA FALLS, NEW YORK.
SOAP.
No Drawing.
1 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that L'EDWARD THORNDIKE LADD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Niagara Falls, in the county of Niagara and State of New York, have invented certain newand useful Improvements in Soaps; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to soaps and has for its object to provide a soap which will not only float but will also' liave medicinal, laundry, toilet" and bleaching uses.
IVith these objects in view the invention consists in the novel soap hereinafter disclosed and particularly pointed out in the claims. I
In carrying out this invention I take any suitable sgap while in the liquid form or in a solution before it sets or hardens, and I impregnate the same with chlorin gas or with any other suitable gas, such as, sulfur dioxid,SO having antiseptic or bleaching properties. When desired to produce a soap having stronger antiseptic properties, I may, also, introduce into the soap before entrapping the gas and before it sets, a solution of mercury chlorid, or other well known antiseptic. The gas may be introduced in any suitable manner, as by liberating it on the interior of the soap by chemical action, or

by simply blowing it into the liquid mass through numerous fine apertures, and removing the surplus gas by permitting the soap to set under pressure. The amount of pressure will determine in a degree the floating ability of the soap.
IVhat I claim is 1. A soap suitable for toilet, and laundry purposes, and having entrained therein a gas contained chlorin having antiseptic properties, in a quantity sufficient to make it float, substantially as described.
A soap suitable for toilet and laundry purposes, and having entrained therein a gas containing free chlorin having antiseptic and bleaching properties and in a quantity suflicient to cause said soap to float, substantially as described.
8. A soap suitable for toilet and laundry purposes, and having entrained therein chlorin gas having antiseptic and bleaching properties in a quantity sufficient to cause said soap to float, substantially as described.
4. A soap suitable for toilet and laundry purposes, containing an antiseptic compound and having entrained therein a suflicient quantity of chlorin gas to give it antiseptic and bleaching properties and sufficient to cause said soap to float, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
EDWARD THORNDIKE LADD.
