WATERPROOF CIGATZETTE-CASE.
Specification'ofLettersPatent. Patented Jan 8 1921 Application filed Decemmr 17, 1919; Serial No. 345,483.
of New Jersey, have invented a new and Improved lVaterproof Cigarette-Case, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to cases and more particularly to water and moisture -proof cases. More specifically, this invention appertains to moisture and waterproof cigarette and tobacco cases, and also to water-.
proof match cases.
An object of the invention is to produce v a moisture and waterproof cigarette, cigar,
'. the year, it is quite common for bathers and fand match case for bathers use, in'order that swimmers and bathers may be provided with a waterproof case for carrying cigarettes,
cigars, tobacco and matches.
It is a further object to provide a waterproof cigarette case comparatively inexpensive to manufacture, which is strong in structure, light in weight andwhich is positive in its waterproof function to preserve cigarettesand matches indefinitely from moisture even though the case is subjected to continual or intermittent soaking in water.
During the outing and vacation seasons of swimmers to be-put to the inconvenience of not having their cigarettes and matches because of the lackof a suitable waterproof case for holding same, and with a-view of providing a small, compact waterproof cigarette and match case we present this invention to fill the need felt for a device of this character. 4
With the above principal objects and others in view, the invention has relation to the combination and arrangement of waterproof cigarette and match cases, several variations in design and construction of which appear in the appended claims, and a description of which is presented in this specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawings wherein: I
Figure 1 illustrates a sectional edge view, and Fig. 2 illustrates a sectional side view with matches and cigarettes shown within the case. Fig. '3 illustrates a bottom edge view of the case to show the belt retaining ;hard rubber or any suitable material.
loops employed for mounting the case on a 'swimmers belt; and Fig. 4: illustrates a modified form of match receptacle which maybe used in connection with a cigarette case.
- A combination cigarette and match case impervlous to water and moisture constructed in accordance with the principles of our invention involves a. closed case made of The case has one opening through which the cigarettes are inserted and removed and into which the waterproof match case is passed when closing the case.
In presenting a more detailed description of our invention there is pointed out in the drawings a case 6 constructed of hard rubher or any other suitable material'imperviou s to water and having a pair of-belt retaming loops 7 integrally formed therewith. The case is worn on the belt of the swim- -mer, which always provides ready and accessible smoking tobacco or cigarettes with dry matchesfor the swimmer and sports- I man.
The case 6 is provided with an interiorlythreaded neck 8, and the cigarettes and matches are inserted and withdrawn from the case'through this neck or opening. A cap 9 having a threaded shank 10 is screwed into the neck and forms a moistureproof closure, excluding water from the interior of the case. The cigarettes or cigars may be withdrawn at any time by removing the threaded cap and shaking the cigarettes out through the opening of the case.
The waterproof match case comprises a tube 11 either detachable from the cap 9 or made integral therewith. A threaded shank 12 is made somewhat smaller in diameter than the shank 10, in order that the matchtube 11 may be inserted through the opening of the case The match containing tube 11 is threaded on to the" shank and will contain enough matches to last the sportsman for a comparatively long time.
Another form of waterproof match tube V i is illustrated as a modified design in- Fig. 4.
The tube. 14: is made integfral with thecap 9 and is provided with a closureplugor stopper 15 for holding the matches in the tube. It is seen, therefore, that the matches are made accessible-by "removing the plug 15 from the tube, when a match may be taken from .thetub'e. ;-Either form of match-consportsmen who desire, to be taining tube isrpractical'for use in connec-.

want at seashores and pleasure resorts, and will find favorable use with swimmersrand provided with 'dr cigarettes and matches.
aving .thus described our invention what. we desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A water-proof combination container comprising a receptacle provided. with an interioi'ly threaded opening,- a stopper having a reduced portion ntermediate' of its'ends,
for engagement with This waterproof case will fill a long-felt 'said rediiced portion being screw-threaded the interiorly screwi5 threaded opening to provide means for retaining the stopper in closing position, an exteriorly screw-threaded end extension flfornied integral with the stopper, and a tubular receptacle having its open end interiorly 20 threaded to receive the thread'edreduced end Iextensionof thestoppe'r, said reduced end extension of the stopper serving as a closing I 1 mediu1n for the tubular receptacle.
