Description
UNITED STATESTTENT OFFICE.
HORACE T. FLEISHER,
HGSIERY GUMPANY, OF PENNSYLVANIA.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Honnon T. Fmnsrrnn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Elkins Park, county of Montgomery, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Dolls, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being hadto the accompanying drawings vhich form a part of this specification.
The object of my invention is to provide a childs doll which will be both attractive in appearance and durable, and which may be inexpensively constructed of waste materials.
Referring to the accompanying drawings in which I have illustrated a preferred embodiment of my invention and in which like symbols refer to like parts in the various figures,
Figure plete doll.
Fig. 2 is a front elevation of the body, legs, head and cap forming section.
Fig. 3 is a front elevation of the arms and means for attaching them to the body.
Fig. 4: is a front elevation of the final covering or garment.
The body portion a is formed from an unperfect section of knitted fabric, made by hosiery manufacturers, as ribbed tops for stockings. The lower end of the fabric is split with the wales and sewed to form legs I), 6. Near the upper end the fabric is gathered in and tied, leaving a free end which 1s folded on dotted lines 0 to form a cap d.
A face 6 is painted, or otherwise drawn on the fabric, and the body portion and legs stuffed with cotton waste. The legs may be tied in at the angles as at f to form feet.
The arms 9 are 1 is a front elevation of the comformed in another section of the same fabric, cut out and sewed to form the arms and a body section h. The wales of the fabric in the arm section run with the arms, since the rib tops are long in the direction of the wales, but relatively narrow across them. The arms may be tied in at the wrists as at 11 to form hands.
A garment for the doll is formed from a third section of rib top and has a body portion j, in which are cut arm-holes k. The upper part of the section is adapted to be folded on dotted lines Z to form a collar, while the lower part is split, in the direction of the wales, and sewed to form pants rninnnnnrnin,
I Specification of Letters Eatent.
The garment is passed over OF ELKI'NS TAR K, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR TO NOTASEME PEIiIIlS-YLVANIA, I1 CORPORATION OF Donn Patented Nov. 9, 1920. se-i-ia no. 545,602.

the head and about the body, the legs being put through the pants. The collar and cap are forms by folding on lines Z and 0 respectively and the body portion j of the garment is folded on lines a to give the jersey and pants-effect. Having now fully described my invention, what I claim and desire to protect by Letters Patent is g 1.
