To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, Ross J. ELLswonTH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelplna and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in Rests for Springs on Bedstead Side Rails, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to a new and useful improvement in rest for springs on bed stead side rails, and has for its object to construct such a rest from a single piece of sheet metal so bent and formed as to produce a clip readily secured to the side bars of the frame carrying the spring mattress and when so secured will form a rigid support for the frame upon the side rails of the bed stead.

/Vith this end in view, my invention consists in the details of construction and combination of elements hereinafter set forth and then specifically designated by the claim.

in order that those skilled in the art to which this invention appertains may understand how to make and use the same, I will describe its construction in detail referring by numerals to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this application, in which Figure 1, represents a portion of a bed stead and mattress frame showing one of my improved rests in position.

Fig. 4 is an end view of the rest looking in the direction of the arrow in Fig. 3.

In carrying out my invention as here embodied, 1 represents one of the side bars of a frame of a spring mattress to which my Specification of Letters Patent.

improved rest 2 is rigidly secured by the rivet 3 and in practice there are four of these rests, two secured to each side bar of the frame. The rest is composed of a single piece of metal so bent as to form the bottom plate eland the angle plate 5, the end of each plate being curved to fit the contour of the side bar 1 and having holes therethrough for the passage of the rivet 3 which when headed up as clearly shown in Fig. 3 rigidly attaches the rest to this side bar.

A stop lug 6 is formed from the bottom plate a by a portion of said plate being partly cut therefrom and bent downward. These stop lugs fit inside of the side rails 7 of the bed stead holding the mattress frame against sidewise movement.

On account of the shape of the rest it may be made of comparatively thin metal since the angle plate 5 serves as a brace to the bottom plate 4; and overcomes the tendency of the bottom plate to be bent out of shape enabling it to support relatively great weight.

Of course I do not wish to be limited to the exact details of construction as herein shown as these may be varied within the limits of the appended claim without departing from the spirit of my invention.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and useful is A rest of the kind stated comprising a bottom plate, a stop lug produced by partially cutting a section of the bottom plate there from and bending the same outward and an angle plate formed integral with the bottom plate and diverging therefrom toward its inner end, as shown.
