Be it known that I, SAMUEL M. FULTON, {L citizen ot the United States, residing at Poniona, in the County ot Los Angeles, State of Calitornia, have invented e new and useful Punip-Head, of which the following is e specification.

This Construction of well-head provides a discharge having a gradual bend free from sharp turns as would retard the flow.
Links 80-81 are pivotally connected at 54 to the center Walking beam 4:4 and to a guide head 82 Secured to the upper end of an inner punp rod 83 which extends downwardly in telescopic engagement withinan outer tubular pump rod S i. The guide head 82 has a split hearing 85 slidably engaging the guide rod 75,`and by which the pump rod 83 is guided in i s reciprocating movements.
The two outer walking beams 43-45 are respectively connected by links 86-87 to opposite sides of a cross-head 88 which is secured to the top of the tubular pump rod 84 (see Fig. a a suitable packing being provided between the cross-head and inner ipunp rod 83, as indicated at 89.
In operation, the drive'shaft 16 being driven at a uniform rate of speed rotates the crank shaft 23 through the medium of the gear pinion 27 and gear wheel 26, the' crank pins of the crank shaft being journaled in the slide blocks and the slide blocks slidable in their respective walking i beam slide ways. As the two outside crank pins 30-31 are coincidently alined, the outside walking beams 43-45 will operate in unison to reciproeate the outer tubular pump rod, and as the center crank pin 34 is positioned diametrcally opposite to the pins 30-31, the walking beam will reciprocate the inner pump rod in opposite directions. The ends of the strokes to which the oppositely positioned crank pins raise or lower their respective walking beams are indicated by dotted lines a-b on Fig. 3 and as these positions are relatively angulariy disposed, it follows that, when one pump rod reaches the end of a stroke the other pump rod has already started some distance on the next stroke, thereby producing a stroke lap in the operation of the pump rods, which insures a continuous pumping operation. e
The invention herein described provides a pump head mechanism which as a unit may be readily moved from its normal position over the well pit to a position which will afford free access to said pit, also by positioning the entire Operating mcchansm between the two side frames the width of the pump connections extendng into the pit is reduced to a minimum so that the supporting beams may be closely positioned together to aiford a sturdy conipact structure especially adaptable for use in wells in' which it is undesirable or impossible to provide well pits of large dimensions. The provision of the supporting rollers for carrying the weight of the crank shaft nsures long life to the crank shaft bearings and guarcls against any distortion of the shaft.
I claim:
1. In a pump -head, parallel walking beams, a crank shaft having opposed crank arms, intermediate crank disks and crank pins connecting the adjacent arms and disks, rollers supporting the crank disks, and slide blocks engaging the crank pins and walking beams.
2. In a pump -head, parallel walking beams having longitudinal slide ways, a crank shaft having opposite crank arms, intermediate crank disks and crank pins connecting the adjacent arms and disks, rollers supporting the crank disks, and slide blocks journaled on the crank pins and slidable in the slide ways.
In a pump-head, opposed side frames, pivoted para-llel walking' beams positioned between said frames and having longitudinal slide ways, a crank shaft having crank arms adjacent each side frame, crank disks between the crank arms and crank pins connecting the arms and disks, rollers supporting the crank disks, and slide blocks journaled on the crank pins and slidable in the slide ways.
4:. In a pump-head, a' drive shaft, a crank shaft, 'and a pivotal hearing red, a frame providing journal bearings for said shaft, a walking beam in operative connection with the crank shaft, and independent means for supporting the crank shaft.
5. ln a pump-head, opposed side frames, an Operating mechanisn including a crank shaft and positioned entirely between the side frames, and independent means between the frames for supporting the crank shaft.
6. In a pump-head, opposed side frames, an Operating' mechanism including a crank shaft having a crank disk and entirely positioned between the side frames, and an independent means engaging the crank disk to support the crank shaft.
In a pump head, an Operating mechanism including a crank shaft, opposed side frames providing journal bearings for said shaft, and means independent of the journal bearings for supportingthe shaft.
