Description

A. KAUNECKAS. SAFETY RAZOR BLADE STROPPING HANDLE. APPLICATION FILED SEPT. 18, 1919.
Patented Oct. 12, 1920.
I N VEN TOR.
,4nfanas K ty UNITED STATES I PATENT OFFICE.
ANTANAS KAUNECKAS, OF WATERBURY, CONNECTICUT.
' SAFETY-RAZOB-BLADE-STROPPING HANDLE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 12, 1920.
Application filed September 18, 1919. Serial No. 324,387.
shown in the accompanying drawings, forming a material part of this disclosure, and in which Figure l is a side elevational view of the handle showing a razor blade in place.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the opened handle, and
Fig. 3 is a sectional view taken through line 3-3 of Fig. 2.
Referring to the drawings in detail, the numeral 10 indicates one leaf of the handle, slotted and formed on its inner edge in a manner to receive the mating leaf 11 formed for the reception of a connecting hinge pin 12.
A clasp 13, pivotally mounted on the pin 14 to the leaf 11, is designed to be dropped or sprung so that its hooked end 15 contacts with seats 16 and 17 provided for it in both members 10 and 11 of handle. A lip 18 is turned at a right angle to the inner face of the leaf 11 from its end to provide a definite stop for the razor blade 20.
By referring to the sectional view Fig. 3, it will be seen that concave portions 21 and 22 are formed in both members of handle elements for the purpose of securing the necessary spring tension to firmly hold the razor blade 20 in its place.
. In operation, the handle being opened, as
shown in Fig. 2, the back of the razor blade 20 lying along the hinge joint and a ainst the stop 18, the handle member 10 is olded upon its joint to contact against the razor blade 20 and is held rigidly by closing the catch 13, producing thereby a handle complete and practical for the purpose set forth.
Having thus described my invention and set forth the manner of its construction and application, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, isp In a device of the character described, the combination of a holder composed of two leaves hingedly connected at. one of their edges and provided with seats at their opposite edges, with a clasp pivotally mounted on one of said leaves and adapted to engage with its hooked end. the seats of said leaves, concave portions formed in both leaves for holding a razor blade and a lip turned at a right angle to the inner face of one of said leaves from its end for providing a definite strop for a razor blade held between a concave portion and the leaves, substantially as described and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I have aflixed my signature;
ANTAN AS KAUNECKAS.
