APPLICATION FILED MAR. 23. 1920.

INVENTOR. aw. yS
ATTORNEY.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
PAUL IYS, OF DETROIT, MIQHIGAN'.
CURTAIN AND SHADE HOLDER.
Application filed March 23,
T all "whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PAUL PYs, a citizen of Poland, residing at Detroit, county of lVayne, and State of Michigan, have in vented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain and Shade Holders, of
-which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a window curtain mounting, having more particular reference of this type which willpermit of easy attachment to, or detachment from the window frame.
A further object of the in'vention, is to provide for-the vertical adjustment of the spring roller which carries the" vertically movable outer curtain commonly known as the window shade.
For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, and to the appended claims in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a front view showing the pair of brackets comprising my improved mounting in position on a window frame. I
Fig. 2 is an enlarged face view of one of the brackets.
Fig. 3 is a side view thereof.
In the drawings represents the side facing strips, and 11 the top horizontal facing strip of a window frame of ordinary construction these facing strips overlapping the edges of the window opening in the wall 12 in the usual manner. A portion of the upper window sash is shown at 13.
My improved window curtain mounting comprises a pair of brackets or supports located at opposite sides of the window frame at the top thereof these brackets being respectively of right andleft hand construction but otherwise the same. Each of these brackets comprises a yoke plate 15 having enlarged perforated ends 16 through which extend freely a pair of vertical screws 17 having heads 18 at their upper ends. These ends 16 may be readily formed by rolling the ends of the plate in a well known manner.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 5, 1920.
1920. erial No. 368,159.
Nuts 19 are threaded on these screws and rest upon the tops of the enlarged ends 16.
Projecting horizontally rearwardly from the plate 15 adjacent the upper edge thereof is a hooked member 20 adapted to engage over the top of the facing strip 11 to'support the bracket from the latter. Projecting horizontally forwardly from the plate 15 is a rigid arm 22 terminating in a curved end 23 which forms a recess adaptedto receive the pole indicated at 2 1 for supporting the la* erally movable curtains the curtains being suspended fromthe pole by means of the usualrings. 7
Located below the plate 15 is a second yoke-plate 25 having enlarged perforated ends 26 formed similarly to the ends 16 in which the lower ends of the screws 17 are fixed. This plate-is horizontally slotted as at 27 and a headed bolt 28 passes forwardly through this slot and through a suitable boring in air'angularstrap 29 this bolthaving a wing nut 30 threaded on the end thereof whereby the strap is clamped to the face of the plate. This strap 29 has a forwardly projecting arm 29' which is adapted to receive one of the trunnions of the usual spring roller whereby the latter is supported, the strap shown in Fig. 3 having a notch 30 cut therein while it will be understood that the strap on the opposite bracket will have the usual aperture therein.
The yoke-plate 15 is formed with a downward extension having a thickened lower edge 36, which may be formed in the same manner as the ends 16 and 26 to provide a suitable aperture extending from end to end thereof, a screw 37 being threaded through the aperture and adjustably locked by means of nuts 38 bearing on the end of this edge portion 36. This screw has a head 39 on one end and a bar 40 clamped against this head by a nut 4C1 threaded on the screw, this bar projecting horizontally forward from the screw 37 which passes through a suitable opening in one end of the bar. This bar is adapted to engage the inwardly facing sides of the window frame to prevent the bracket from being pushed sidewise off the window frame, and may be adjusted later ally to fit any window frame.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is 1. A window curtain support comprising a pair of yoke-plates arranged one above the other, means for supporting the upper yoke-plate upon the window frame, means suspending the lower yoke-plate from the upper yoke-plate to permit of vertical ad- 7 justment thereof and curtain supporting means carried by each yoke-plate, the cur- ;tain supporting'means on the lower yoke plate adjustable longitudinally of thefplate,
consisting of an angle strap, a bolt passing through said strap and through a horizontal slot in the yoke plate, and a nut threaded on said bolt.
2. A window curtain support comprising a pair of yoke-plates arranged one above the other, means for supporting the upper yoke-plate upon the window frame, means suspending the lower yoke-plate from the upper yoke-plate to permit of vertical adjustment thereof, and curtain supporting means carried by each yoke-plate, the curtain supporting means on the lower yokescrews passing upwardly through elements on the upper plate, nuts threaded on said screws and resting on said elements, at ourtain pole arm carried by the upper plate, a roller curtain support carried by the lower plate and consistingof an angular strap adjustably secured to said plate by a nut and bolt device passing through a horizontal slot in said plate and an arm carried by the lower'plate and adapted for horizontal adjustment.
' 4:. A window curtain support comprising a pair of yoke-plates arranged one above the other, a hooked member projecting from the upper yoke-plate and adapted to engage the window' frame, a pair of screws having the lower yoke plate suspended there A from, said screws passing upwardly through elements on the upper plate, nuts threaded on said screws and rest ng on sa d elements,
a curtain pole arm carried bythe upper plate, a roller curtain support carried by the lower plate and consisting'of an angular strap adjustably secured to said plate by a nut and bolt device passing through a horizontal slot in said plate and an arm carried by the lower plate and adapted for horizontal adjustment, vthe means for securing said arm to said plate comprising a screw adjustable longitudinally of said plate to which said arm is fixed. In testimony whereof signature.
