To all whom it may concem I Be it known that I, HARRY NAGLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Brooks lyn, in the cbunty of Kings' and State of New York, have nvented certain new and useful Improvements in Show-Case Looks;

clear, and exact description 'of the invention, such as will enable others slrilled'in the art to which it appertains to make use the same.

T his invention relates to show case locks, and is particularly designed for use in 'conneetion with show cases 'having oppositely sliding glass doors. r

One object of the invention is to provide a means whereby' the oppositely sliding glass doors of a show case or the lile may' be locked in closed position without in any way reconstructing or adapting the glass doors for the attachment of the device thereto.

Another object of the invention is to proand vide a device of this character, the.:con-` struction of which is extremely simple, strong, easy and cheap to manufaeture, will be efieient and reliable inroperation and is well. adapted to the purpose for which it is designed'.

`With these and other object-s in view the invention consists of the novelfeatures of Construction, and the combination and arrangement' of parts as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.

In the embodiment illustrated the number 1 designates a portion of the bottom of a show case, and 2 and 3 are the oppositely sliding glass doors of the show case. As

clearly shown, these doors 2 and3 when in closed position have one of their ends in overlapping relation. The door 2 may be opened by sliding it to the right and the door 3 may be opened by sliding it to' the left. As shown in Figs. 3 and l the doors 2 and3 are slightly spaced from each other in 'a direction transverse with respect to the show case.

The present invention is in the form of a rectangular metallic plate 4, one end of which is bent upwardly to form a fiange 5 while one longitudinal edge of the plate is fiared upwardly to form a finger engaging sooket 6. Extendng laterally from one edge and one end of the fiange 5 is an arm 7, from the free end of which extends -a lateral finger or` lug 8. The arm 7 is dis-- posed ina plane parallel to the -plate 4: and extends substantially longtudinal with i'espect ,to said plate and'the lug 8 is dis posed in the plane of the 'arm 7. ?Projecting downwardly from the lower side of the plate %t is a pair of spaced apertured lugs 9'. The bottom of the Showcase is provided with a suitable lock 10 having 'a pair of hook shaped sliding bolts 11.,

In Fig 1 the deviee' is shown in locked position, and from this it will be seen that the plate 4 rests fiat upon'thebottom l of the show case with the fiange 'bearing against the end of' the. door The lugs eXtend into suitable openings arranged in the bottom l of the show case and the hook shaped boltsll' of the lock 10 are inserted into the opening of said lugsso that the plate l'is locked against upward propriate key in the key-hole so as to move the' bolts 11 to the right and withdraw their i hook-shaped ends from the apertures in the lugs 9. VVhenthis has been done the plate 4: may be raised by engagement of the fingers with the recess or socket 6. The plate '4: must first be raised to the dot and dash line position shown in Fig. 1 so that the lugs 9 will be disengaged from the openings in the bottom o' the show case. The plate 4 may then be swung upon the arm 7 as an aXis to the position indicated in full line in Fig. 2 so that the lug 8 points downwardly andbecomes disengaged from the edge of the door 2. `When in this position the platc i be slid longitudinally so that the arm 7 and lug 8 may be withdrawn 'from between the doors 2 and 3. This final position is indicated by the dot and dash lines in Fig. 2. The plate is then free and may be placed away until it is again to be used. The doors 2 and 3 are then unlocked and may be opened and closed whenever desired.

From the foregoing description taken in connnection with the accompanying drawings, it will be seen that the objects of the invention have been efectively carried out as the device may be attached to a show case having glass doors without first especially adapting or reconstructing such doors for the attachment of the device thereto.

It is obvious that the device must necessarily be modified or changed in Construction or in proportion to adapt it to be used in connection with all types of show cases, and such changes and modifications may be made within the scopeof the appended claims.

What is claimed is:

l. The combination with a bottom and oppositely sliding doors of a show case, of a member detachably locked to the bottom of the show case and having portions abutting the ends of the doors thereof to prevent opening of said doors.

2. The combination with the bottom and oppositely sliding doors of a show case, said doors having one of their ends overlapped when in closed position, ot' a member detachably locked to the bottom of a show case and abutting the overlapping end of one of said doors to prevent openingof this door, said member having an extension extending between the overlapped ends of said doors and provided with means abutting the overlapped end of the other door to prevent opening of this door;

3. The combination withthe bottom and oppositely sliding doors of a show case, said doors having one of their ends overlapped when in closed position, a lock mounted in the bottom of the show case, a plate resting upon the bottom of the show case and detachably engaged by said lock,`one end of said plate being upturned and abutting the overlapped end of one of said doors to prevent opening of this door, and an arm carried by the upturned end of said plate and extending between the overlapped ends of said doors and provided with means abutting the overlapped end of the other door to prevent opening of this door.

4. The combination with the bottom and oppositely sliding doors of a show case, said doors having one of their ends overlapped when in closed position, a lock mounted in the bottom of the show case, a plate resting` upon the bottom of the show case and detachably engaged by said lock, one end of said plate being upturned and this upturned portion abutting the overlapped end of one of said doors to prevent opening of this door, an armprojecting laterally from the upper edge and one end of the upturned end of said plate and extending between the overlapped ends of said doors, and a lug extending laterally from the free end of said arm and abutting the overlapped end of the other door to prevent opening of this door. v

5. .A device of the class described comprising a plate having one end upturned, an arm extending laterally from the upturned end of said plate and provided at its free end. with a laterally projecting lug, and lock bolt keepers disposed upon the lower side of said plate and depending therefrom. i e

6. A device of the class described comprising a plate having one end upturned, and one edge flared upwardly to form a finger engaging socket, an arm projecting longitudinally of said plate from the upper edge and one end of the upturned portion thereof, a lug projecting laterally from the free end of said arm, and lock bolt keepers disposed upon the lower side of said plate and depending therefrom.
