CLOTHES-DRIER.
Application filed July is, 1919. Serial No. 311,697.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HIRAM IV. GIDDINGS, a citizen of the United States,-residing at Mansford, in the county of Skagit, State 01 \Vashington, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Clothes-Driers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the in-' vention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and.
use the same.
This invention relates'to new and useful improvements in clothes driers and particularly to the class of clothes driers which are adapted to be secured to stove-pipes.
One object of the present invention is to provide a novel and improved device of this character which is simple and cheap in its construction, and which can be easily and quickly attached to or removed from the stove-pipe without the use of special tools, and can be accomplished by anyone. Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing.
In the drawing:
Figure 1 is a side elevation of the inven-.
tion applied to a stove-pipe.
Fig. 2 is a top plan viewof the same, the pipe, being shown in section.
Fig. 3 is an enlarged detail sectional View taken on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2.
As seen in the drawing, the device includes a pair 01": sections 10 and 11, each of which comprises the end bars 12 and 12, to the former of which are connected the hollow bars 13, and to the latter the solid or hollow bars 17, the latter being telescoped into the former.
the bowed portions 14 which are arranged to embrace the. stove-pipe 15. -Clamping screws 16 are engaged through the bars 13'.,
The innermost bars 13 r are formed intermediate their lengths with at one side of the bowed portions to assist in clamping the bowed portions around the.
pipe. Thebars 17 are longitudinally slot- Specification of Letters Patent. Patented A11 Q24, 1920.
ted, as shown at 18 in Fig. 8, and disposed and through the slots18, are the clamping screws 16. Thus'the bowed portions can be clamped around the stove-pipe, but permit thetelescoped bars to slide for adjusting the size of the drier[ While I have shown the general outline of through the adjacent ends of the bars 13,
the device as being rectangular, it must be I understood that the same can be changed without, departing from the spirit of the invention or scope oi the claims.
WVhat is claimed is:
v 1. A clothes drier for attachment to av 'VGltlCELl support compr sing a pair of sections each having end members, telescoping connecting bars between the end members,
theinnermost of the connecting bars beinglaterally bowed, and clamping screws engaged through the said innermost bars at opposite sides of the bowed portions.
2. A clothes drier comprising a pair of sections, hollow bars carried by one section and extending therefrom in parallel rela tion, bars extending-from the other section and telescoped into the hollow bars, the innermost of the hollow bars being intermediately bowed, the innermost of the second-named bars being longitudinally slotted,
and clamping screws disposed through the innermost bars at opposite sides of the bowed portions, the screws at one side of the bowed portions passing through the slotted bars. 7
In testimony whereof, I afiix my signature, in the presence of two witnesses.
HIRAM W. GIDDINGS.
Vitnesses I-I. BULLEY, I NnLLm ,WooowARn.
