Containers and Ejectors, of which the fol-v lowing is a specification.
This invention has as one of its objects' the provision of a metallic container, having a hermetically closed cover, and adapted to be used as a package for transporting food and forfmaintaining the same therein,
for indefinite periods of time, without deterioration. n
A further object is toy provide a-false bottom for the container and means combined therewith by which the false bottom may be drawn outwardly, thereby expelling the contents which are normally caused to adhere to the false bottom in a novel manner.
A still further object is to provide means for supporting land operating the Vcontainer so that the contents maybe forced outwardly in a uniform and convenient manner other, as indicated best in Fig. 2, and eX- as required. Y p
These and other like objects, which` will become more fully manifest as they description progresses, are attained by the novel construction and combination of parts hereinafter described and shownv in ythe accompanying drawings, forming a material part of this disclosure, and in which Figure 1 is a top plan view showing a container and its mounting made in accordance with the invention, parts being broken away in order to disclose the interior.

Referring to the drawings in detail, the numeral 10 indicates a plate or platform on which are mounted` a pair of transverse blocks 11 and 12,' respectively at the front and rear, the former having a curved recess 13 in its upper side adapted to receive the container, while the other block 12, in addition to being similarly formed, is further provided with a raised portion 14, with which the bottom of the container makes contact when disposed upon its side as shown in the several drawings.
The container is comprised of a cylindric'al metallic casingl, having an imperforate head 16, and fixed adjacent to the margin, at its opposite end, are a plurality of pins 17, engaging in bayonet-joint recesses 18, formed in the flanged edge 18 of a cover 19, the edge of this cover has an inner raised flange 20, beaded as at 2l, an annular space being formed between the exterior wall 19 and flange v21 in which is contained a ductile packing ring 23, adapted to make contact with the outer ,edge of the cylindrical casing 15, forming a joint impervious to air or moisture. y Y
' Fitting looselywithin the cylinder 15 is a round metallic plate or disk 25, which is providedwvith a plurality of sharp extending prongs 26 formed from the material of the disk 25, by piercing and bending, presenting spurs adapted to enter the food pressed tightly against the disk at the time that the can is filled.
A pair of cords 28 and 29 are passed through openings formed in the disk or false bottom 25, the cords crossing each tending outward to the front of the container, through eyelets 30, and thenvdownwardly alongside, and engaged with the bights of the cords are double eyes 31, one portion of which is twisted angularly to the other, presenting open loops.

' the crank 39 operated, causing the roller 36 to wind the cords 34-85 with sufficient force to extract .the disk 25, the meat adhering thereto by reason of the prongs which have been firmly pressed into its bottom layer, and it will be obvious that the plate 10 may be placed kupon the platform of a meat cutting machine, as indicated in Fig. il, so that as the'contents are pressed out in a cylindrical form similar to a solid piece of meat, the extruded portions may be severed into slices in the ordinary manner, or cut by a hand operated knife as may be convenient.
From the foregoing it will be seen that an efficient container for packing meat has been disclosed, in which the contents areV each other on thel lower. side of said plate,
