'l his invention is a portable combined. display stand and. coin holder useful in connection with the sale of articles and commodities by street venders or in stores or the like.
The invention illustrated in the accom- 'ianying drawing which forms a part of this specification and the appended claims.

In the drawing 1 indicates a box-shaped receptacle, the front wall of which is lower than the r ar wall and the side walls are inclined at the top, from the top of the front wall to the top of the rear wall. A plate 2 forming the top wall of the box rests upon the top oil the trout, rear and side walls of the box and is secured thereto by screws 3, the plate inclining downwardly in a forward direction. A. pocket 'it is formed in the plate to hold and expose veiu'lable cmnmodities to be sold. A coin receiving pocket 5 is formed. in the front part oi? the plate 2 in which the purchaser deposits his coin for purchasing the articles in pocket 4, which articles the purchaser takes from the pocket. The coin receiving pocket has a bottom door 6 which entirely closes the pocket in order to [HGVGIll] the coin or other articles to pass to the interior of the receptacles. The operation of the door is controlled by the clerk or vender by means of a handle 9, the door being mounted on a rod 7 suitably journaled on the bottom of the plate 2 and extending through a side wall of. the box 1. A spring 8 normally holds the door 6 closed to hold the deposited coin in the pocket. The crank 9 is formed on the outer end of rod 7 by Specification of Letters Patent.

A guard plate 11 is secured. to plate 2 by screws 12 over the pocket 55, formingthe top wall of the pocket and is provided with a relatively small opening 13 through which coins are depositcrl into said pocket. The opening 13 is, however, of such size as would permit the purchaser or vender to insert his fingers in order to recover any coin or article which is accidentally deposited in the pocket 5, it of course being understood that the door or body 6 is nori'nally closed and does not open under the weight (If the coin. in the form of the invention herein shown, the top plate or tray 2 is formed of sheet metal and has the pockets i, 5 and 6 stamped therein. lilowever, any other suit le eonstruction may be employed wherein the snitable pockets will be provided such as shown and described. The box 1 has a side door 14. hinged at 15 which is locked in closed posi tion by lock 16. l laving describcxl my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. In a device of the character described, a casing having an og iening forming a money depository pocket therein communieating with the exterior of the casing, means below said opening for closing the same and controlling the passage oil articles from the pocket to the interior of the casing, a guard member covering the pocket and having an opening therein, said opening in the guard permittin recovery of money from the pocket when desired, and means whereby said controlling means may be operated.
2. In a device of the character described, a casing having a tray portion provided with an opening having inturned flanges forming a money depository pocket and communicating With the interior of the casing, a shutter member arranged below said opening and closing the same for controlling the passage of money into the casing, a guard covering said pocket and having an opening therein,
said opening in the guard permitting the deposit and recovery of money from the pocket, and manually operable means for opening 10 and closing said shutter.
