Application tiled January 2t, 1h12. tierial tto. ambata To all whom it may concern:
lie it known that l, Anna Groen., a citizen of the lUnited States, residing at lbrederielrs-V Inn-g, in the county of Gillespie and State of libras, have invented a new and useful Combination-Garment, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is a garment in which a shirt and a pair of drawers are combined to form a single article of ap arel.
llne of the objects of the invention is to provide a garment of the character mentioned, so constructed that the drawers will harta ample seat room, and the whole so arranged that the garment may be readily put on or removed without rendering it necessary for the wearer to remove his trousers or slices. A further object is to provide a shirt and pair of drawers combined in one garment which will. be comfortable upon the person, Aand so constructed that the parts may be\readily mani ulated when being placed on 'or removed rom the body of the wearer.
'lhe invention will be hereinafter fully set forth and particularly pointed out in the nlil htl
claim.
lfigure 1 is a erspective view of a garment constructed) in accordance with the invention. Fig. 2 is a detail sectional view. l4`ig. 3 is a diagrammatic view illustrating the method of providing fullness in the seat of the garment.
Referring to the drawing, 10 designates an upper shirt body provided with the usual sleeves, nach band l1, and front opening 12, said front opening being formed by a closure band 13, and a fastener band 1t, allof any preferred construction. The drawers 15 are provided with a waist ortion 1b, and the leg portions 17 and 18, t e waist portion being secured to the corresponding portion of the body 10, in any suitable manner, as indrcated at 19. The Hy of the drawers consists of a closure band 20 and fastener band 21., both of which form continuations of the bands 13 and 1d, respectively.
llloth of the legs of the drawers are split longitudinali as shown, the leg 17 being provided wit a closure band 22 and a fastener band 23, said closure band extendin at an angle to the. closure band 20, an forming a sharp corner with the latter at the crotch.. The le 18 is provided with a closure band 26 amiga fastener baud 27, the
closure band being concealed by a da 28.
'lhe crotch end ofthe band is locate beneath the corner formed by the intersection ofthe bands 22 and 20, when the garment is m use.
ln practice, the fastener band is provided with suitable fastening devices, such as buttons to be enlgaged by buttonholes or other complementa means on the closure band, and it will be noted that the bands 13, 20 and 22 form a practically continuous band. When the garment is to be worn, the fasteners are all disconnected and then the shirt is put on vin the customary manner. 'lhe bands 26 and 2i' of the leg 18 are then united, after which the closnreband of the leg 17, the closure band of the Hy and the closure band of the waist or body of the shirt are successively buttoned up, the closure bands at the crotch forming a projecting corner which overlaps the bands of the leg 18, thereby providing a neat fit at this point. ln or er to provide ample seat room, which is a necessity if comfortable ht of a garment of this character is desired, the seat of the drawers is made full by an addition to the lenh of the bach portion of the drawers. "il ereas the usual pattern of drawers shows a straight cut waist band measuring for lilo. 32 garment from `the lower edge of the seat to the upper part of the waist band (line lh-,llig 3) appresimately 101l inches, the proposed innovation provides for an eatension of such baclr line lt inches (line -tU, lig. 3l added to the bach line so that the upper line of the waist band will run diagonal to rear on the line D- l ig. 3, havin the edect of addin a triangular section to the waist ban thus len hening the seat ortion of the garment. "l bands of the egs will come well up inside of the legs of the wearer. 'll' construction also possesses a further advantage in that the buttons are brought to a position where they will not cause discomfort when the wearer is in a sitward from frontv dll lill.
