To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, DOUGLAS .D. CoRNINc, a citizen of the United States, residing at 58 Hamilton avenue, Lynn, in the county of Essex and State of Massachusetts, have invented an Automatic Material-Dispensing Device, of which the following is a specification. r i r This invention relates to automatic ma: terial dispensing apparatus and has for its Object to-provide asimple; inexpensive and reliable device for automatically dispensing dry materials such as grain or other stock feed.

In Fig. 1, the cylindrical galvanized iron receptacle (1) is provided with cover (2) and with bail (3) whereby the dispenser must be suspended for operation. The bottom of the container (4:) is funnel shaped, the opening (5) at the base of which passes into a uniform cylindrical chute (6) the lower opening of which (7) is either caused to be shut or open by the conical disk valve (8) being in its elevated (9) or lowered position 10) as the case may be. The conical disk valve (8) is rigidly suspended by two supporting rods (11) which are free to slide vertically through guides or eyes (12) which are attached to chute (6). The upper ends of the supporting rods (11) are bent at right angles so that Whenjconical disk (8) drops from its elevated position (9) to its lowered position (10), these arms (13) strike eyes (12 and 12") and thus prevent disk (8) from dropping farther than the required position (10). Furthermore arm (13') passes through the slit (1 4) in a gravity operating releaser here shown as a plate (15) which revolves about axis (16). Plate (15) is provided with a notch (17) into which tongue (18) of latch (19) passes.

This elevating movement by means of the attached'rods (11) in turn rotates the plate clockwise to a position whereatthe tongue (18) of the latch (19) engages itself, by means of gravity into notch (17). The alarm clock is inserted face outward into the frame (22), this brings arm into correct position. Material is then placed into receptacle arm (31) rotates a turn in a counter clockwise movement. In so doing, it strikes the arm (21) pushing it upward and thus lowers the tongue (18) and disengages same from notch (17). Thus plate (15) is allowed to rotate about of a turn downward conical disk (8) to drop to its lowered position (10) and in so doing the material from the chute (6) and the receptacle (1) flows When the time set arrives, the

I claim:
1. In combination with a receptacle having a discharge opening, a valve controlling said opening, a rod slidably mounted relative to said receptacle and carrying said valve, a pivoted plate adaptedto be releasably engaged with said slidable rod, anda support pivoted below said plate and having .a supporting and a non-supporting relation thereto.
2. In combination witha receptacle having a discharge opening, a valve controlling ing a discharge opening, a valve controlling said opening, a rod slidably mounted relative to said receptacle andcarrying said valve, a pivoted late adapted to be releasably engaged with said slidable rod, a-support pivoted below said plate and having a supporting. and a non-supporting relation thereto, and a guide for said slidable rod, and-a stop carried by said slidable rod and adapted to contact said guide in the movement of said rod in one direction to thereby limit said movement.
4. In combination with' a receptacle hav ing a discharge opening, a valve controlling said opening, alvertically disposed gravity operating rod slidably mounted relative to said receptacle, and carrying said valve', -a
pair of alined-guide eyes on said container for guiding said'rod, said rod having its upper end bent and constituting a .stop adapted to contact -the upper eye o'fsaid pair of guide eyes to limit the downward movement of the rod, a releaser adapted to engage said bent end and retain the rod in raised position, and means for, actuating said releaser. g
5. In comblnation wlth a receptacle hav- .ing a dlschargeopenmg, a valve controlling said opening, a vertically disposed gravity operating rod slidably mounted rel ative to said receptacle, and carrying said valve, a pair of alined guide eyes on said container for guiding said rod, said rod havingits upper end bent and constituting a stop adapted to contact the upper eye of said pair of'guide eyes to-limit the clownward movement of the rod, a pivoted plate having a slot to releasably receive the bent end of said rod and having aperipheral locking notch below said slot, and a latch pivoted below said plateand having a tongue adapted to lie in said notch.
