Description

n. WENTZEL.
Domes for Lime-Kilns.
No. 134,501. Patented Dec. 31, 1872.
IINVENTOR.
AM PHOT0 ZITHOGRAPHIU GONX/OSBORNEZS PROCESS) Swans DANIEL WENTZEL, OF NEW BLOOMFIELD, PENNSYLVANIA.
IMPROVEMENT IN DOMES FOR LIME-KILNS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 134,501, dated December 31, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DANIEL WENTZEL, of New Bloomfield, in the county of Perry and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Lime Kiln Domes and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing making a part of this specification, and to the letters andv figures of reference marked thereon.
Figurel of the drawing is a representation of a front View of my invention. Fig. 2 is a sectional View of the same.
My invention hasrelation to lime-kiln domes; and consists in making the same of metal, and providing a hinged door, constructed, arranged, and furnished with means for keeping it closed, all substantially as hereinafter described.
Referring to the drawing, A designates a hemispherical metallic dome for a lime-kiln. B designates a chimney rising from the center of said dome. O is a concavo-convex door, coinciding in curvature with the form of the dome, and hinged at its upper edge to thelat ter. This door covers an opening in the side of the dome, through which the kiln is filled, and has beveled or upwardly converging sides. When the door is closed it is held so by means of the hinged wings a attached to the dome at the sides of the door. E is a ring or handle, by means of which the door is raised. F designates a band encircling the base of the dome, and designed to embrace the upper part of the kiln. This band may be cast with the dome, or secured thereto afterward.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent. is-- The metallic, hemispherical, lime-kiln dome A, having the base-flange F, chimney B, door 0, and hinge-fastening wings a, substantially as specified.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
DANIEL WVENTZEL.
Witnesses:
LEWIS POTTER, GEo. E. UPHAM.
