To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, WVILBERT C. RHODES,

a citizen of the United States, residing at .a proper position for knitting, thus obviating the annoyance and labor of holding the needles while knitting.

Another object of this invention is the provision of holders adapted to be secured to the garment of a person upon each side thereof and which slidably receive the needles so that the headed ends thereof will be supported and which will permit free knitting movement of the pointed ends.

A further object of this invention is the provision of a knitting needle holder of the above stated character, which will be simple, durable and efficient, and which may be manufactured and sold at a comparatively low cost.

With these and other objects in View, it will become more apparent as the description proceeds, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.

For a complete understanding of my in vention, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, in which:

Figure 1 is a fragmentary front elevation of a person illustrating my invention applied thereto.

Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the holder removed from the garment.

Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view of the same.

Fig. 4 is a transverse sectional view.

-Referring in detail to the drawing, the numeral 1 indicates a hollow cylindrical body of the holder which is constructed from celluloid or any other material suitable for the purpose and is of such a size as it will freely receive a knitting needle 2.

A fastener 4, in the form of a safety pin or the like, is passed through the body 1 so that its free fastening arm portion 5 may be inserted through a garment before inserting the same in the clip.

In operation, a pair of holders are secured in an inclined position to a garment upon each side of a person at a point above the waist as illustrated in Fig. 1 so as to support the knitting needles 2 in an upwardly and inwardly inclined position having the pointed ends of the needles in close proximity to each other so that they can be readily manipulated in the usual knitting process. The needles 2 are loosely fitted within the holders 1 so the pointed ends can be moved with relation to each other and also whereby one needle may be moved toward and from the other. The holders 1 are of such a size that they will permit the heads to pass therethrough when it is desired to remove the needles from one holder to the other as'is customary in knitting when the needles are transferred from hand to the other.

From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, it will be noted that a device is provided which will support the needles to a persons garment, obviating the necessity of holding the same when knitting, and which one will permit free movement of the needles so as to accomplish the knitting process.

While I have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, it will be understood that minor changes in construction, combination and arrangement of parts may be made without departing from the spirit andscope of the invention as claimed.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:

A knitting needle holder comprising a pair of cylindrical bodies adapted to slidably receive knitting needles, safety pins extending through the bodies and fastened to a garment in opposite inclined planes so as to support the needles in such planes and permit the pointed ends thereof to be manipulated and in close proximity to each other.
