Beit known that I, SAMUEL GnLLis, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at New York city, county and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improveinen s in Combination Ladders and Ironing-fiables, of which `the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

This invention relates te improvements in a combined ironing board, table and stepladder, the object being to provide an ironing device arranged to be used as an ironing.

board in the form of a table, as a table only, or as a step-ladder. To carry out my invention, I provide a board or an elongated fiat body-member having legs or standards, which in turn are provided with steps pivotally connected or hinged thereto.

Certain other features of improvement will be set forth in the following specification in conjunction with the accompanying drawing, wherein Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improvement arranged as a step-ladder;

My improved device consists of an elongated flat body portion or board 7 havling flanges or ledges S to provide a channeled structure to substantially conceal the laddermembers when the same are not in use. To the flanges or ledges 8 I pivotally secure a block 9 to which a pair of prop-members 10 and Al1 are secured, at one end thereof, the pivots for the block 9 being indicated by 12. To the prop-members 10 and 11 I pivotally connect a plurality of steps 13 by means of hinge plates 14 and pins 15 (see Fig. 5). Each step 13 is also pivotally connected to side- rails 16 and 17 by means of plates 18 To one end of' and pins 19 (see Fig. each rail 16 and 17, I pivotally connect, as at 19a, a pair of leg members 20 and 21, and to the opposite end of said rails 16 and 17 I pivotally connect, as at 22 and 23, a similar pair of leg- members 24 and 25. members are connected by cross-braces 26 and 27, respectively. rThe leg- members 20, 21, 21 and 25 are further connected to the rails 16 and 17 by rods 28 and 29 pivotally connected to each other at 30 and to the rails at their free ends by pivots 31. The rods 28 and 29 when extended form braces for the leg-members when the device is used as a table or table-ironing-board. The rails 16 and 17 are preferably connected intermediate their ends to the board 7 by means of braces 32, which tend to stillen the structure when it is arranged as a step-ladder. It will be apparent that the leg-members can be extended to lie at a right angle to the rails 16 and 17 when the device is arranged as a step ladder, in order to support pails or the like.

improved device will be found very useful for household purposes, as an ironingboard, table and step-ladder are combined in one structure. As the uses for the various combinations are obvious, further reference thereto will be omitted.

In conclusion it may be stated that when the device is used as a step-ladder, the steps 12% will rest upon the cross-braces of the legmembers 20, 21, 24 and 25. As the braces 10 and 11 and rails 16 and 17 are pivotally connected to the steps 13, the said rails and b aces will operate in the manner of the members of a parallel rule when the propmembers 10 and 11 are swung outwardly to arrange the device as a step-ladder.

To lock the elements of the structure together when not in use as a table or stepladder, I may employ a pivotal cleat 33, carried by the board proper on a rib-member 341, to engage the prop- members 10 and 11, and similar cleats 35 and 36 carried by the propmembers 1() and 11 to engage the rails 16 and 17.

lllhen the device is used as a table, the cleats 35 and 36 will hold all of the pivotal members, excepting the leg members,

which of course will be extended to support the board member 7, the braces 28 and 29 acting to brace said leg members.

Having described my invention, what I claim is:

1. The combination of an ironing-board, brace-members pivotally connected at one end thereof to said board, step-members pivotally connected at the corners thereof to said braces, side rails pivotally connected to the step-members at the sides thereof, legniembers pivotally connected to said rails,

and foldable braces connecting the leg-members and side-rails.

2. The combination of an ironing-board, brace-members pivotally connected at one end thereof to said board, stepqnembers pivotally connected at the corners thereof to said braces, side rails pivotally connected to the step-members at the sides thereof, braces pivotally connected at one end thereof to said side-braces and at the other endto said board, leg-members pivotaliy connected to said rails, and foldable braces connecting the leg-members and side-rails.

' 3. The combination of an ironingboard, brace-members pivotally connected at one end thereof to said board, step-members pivotally connected at the corners thereof to said braces, side rails pivotally connected to the step-members at the sides thereof, braces pivotally connected at one end thereof to said side-braces and at the other end to said board, leg-members pivotally connected to said rails, foldable braces connecting the legmembers and side-rai1s, and locking means to secure all of the before-mentioned inembers together excepting the leg-members.

4:. The combination of an ironing-board, brace-members pivotally connected at one end thereofy to said board, step-members pivotally connected at the corners thereof to said braces, side rails pivotally connected to the step-members at the sides thereof, braces pivotally connected at one end thereof to said side-braces and at the other end to said board, leg-members pivotally connected to said rails, foldable braces connecting the 1eg-1nembers and side-rails, and cross-braces carriedby the leg-members arranged to support the step-members when the device is arranged as a step-ladder.
