So ong as a full portion of the periphery of wheel 38 is presented under lug 39 and the arm is held elevated thereby, the toe is kept raised out of the path ofthe bunter 44. When the final step-movement of the wheel is caused to take place, just as the lay completes a beating-up movement and the notch 40 thereby is presented under the lug so that the arm is permitted to'drop the toe 43 passes down at the rear of the upturned engaging end of the bunter 44, which at that instant is in its most forward position. The ensuin rearward movement of the lay causes the unter 44 to raise the arm as the said hunter passes backward under and past the 'beveled-off lower end of the toc, and then the arm drops again, with the lug,r 39 Within notch 40. As the lay beats up the next time, the end of bunter 44 encounters the toe 43, and drives the toe and the member 28* of the arm forward. To permit member Q8 to move relative to mernher 98 it is mounted slidablv upon the latter, with loops 4.5, 45, of one member embracing the other member. A screw 46 carried by member 28 Works in a longitudinal slot 47 in member 28, and a. contracting spiral spring 48 engaged with the said screw and with a pin 49 projecting` from member 28 exerts its tension to hold member 28 in its rearwardly extended position as far as per-- mitted by the engagement of screw 46 with the rear end of slot 47. Springr 48 yields to permit the member 28 to be driven forward upon member 28. As member 28* goes forward. the straight back of the lug' 39 acts against the front wall of notch 40 and rotaies the wheel 38 forward a step farther, thereby giving` the Wheel its starting position. As the lay goes rearward again, spring 4R arts to pull member 28 rearward, and the. inclined rear sido of the lug rides up over the corner at the top of the rear wall of notch 40, so that the lug passes out upon the periphery of the wheel :and remains restiupr thereon. Detent 41 holds Wheel 38 from reverse turningr movement as this action takes place.

In a loom, the combination with means for calling a change in the operation thereof. of a rotary governor operatively comgoverning the said means, and a. feeler-device operatively combined with said rotary governor and adapted to turn the same stepbystep through a succession of feeling actions following detection of depletion ofthe working weft-supply to a predetermined initiatory residue, and through such turning render the said means operative to call a change after a predetermined sequence of residue-reducing picks.

In a loom, a weft-feeler, and means for calling a change in the operation of the loom, of a rotary controller overnor provided with a notch and adaptecltobe operated by the said weft-feeler, a controller for the said means provided with an arm having thereon a spring-controlled movable member furnished with a lug normally resting against the controller-governor and adapted to enter the said notch when the latter is presented in position to receive the lug, such entry permitting action of the controller by which the means for calling a change is ren dered effective to call the change, and a bunter moving with the lay, andadapted to engage the said member when the lug occupies the notch and as a result of such engagement actuate the member to turn the controller-governor into starting position.

In a loom, the combination with means .for calling a change in the operation the-reef` and a controller for such means, of a coutreuer-governor coperating with said controller and having a series of ratchet teeth` a normally ineffective actuator adapted to coperate with said ratchet teeth to move the controller-governor step by step, and a feeler device which renders said actuaA tor effective to engage said ratchet teeth so that the said change controlling means are brought into action after a predctermincfl sequence of picks succeedin detection of a predetermined initiatory residue of weft.
