IMPROVEMENT IN TABLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 123,172, dated J annary 30, 1872.

Figure 1 is a side elevation of the table embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is that end of the table which is at the right hand in Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 shows a sectional elevation on the line ofrc m, Fig. 1.
General Description.
A is the top of my table, which is in three parts, a b 0, and can be regulated by movable brackets, 61. a c are the leaves,'and can be let down, as shown in Fig. 2. b is the part left level. B is the bridge upon which the top A rests, and into which the shaft D is fastened. O is the standard, made hollow, (containing a spiral. spring when preferred,) in which standard runs the shaft or rest D, by means of which shaft or rest and a set-screw or equivalent the top is secured when raised or lowered to the desired height. E is a set-screw or equivalent fastened into the standard 0, and which setscrew or equivalent lets into the shaft or rest 1) for the purpose aforesaid. F is the extended foot of my table. 61 d are movable brackets fastened on the bridge B, which brackets, when extended, secure thetop level, and when turned back against the bridge let the leaves down, as above described.
Claim.
I claim as my invention- 1. In a reading-desk or table, the combination of the top A in three parts, a b c, with the bridge B, movable brackets d d, and shaft D, all constructed substantially as described.
2. The combination, with the devices of the first claim, of the standard 0 and screw E, or equivalent, and extended foot F, allconstructed substantially as described.
