Description
R. A. PARENT.
JAR HOLDER. APPLICATION FILED SEPT-29,19l6- 1,931 ,Mzo Patented July 1917.
RUFUS A. PARENT, OF SOUTH TACOMA, WASHINGTON.
JAR-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 3, 191W.
Application filed. September 29, 1916. Serial No. 122,885.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, RUFUS A. PARENT, a citizen of the United States, residing at South Tacoma, in the county of Pierce and State of l/Vashington, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a J ar- Holder, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to a jar holder and has for its principal object the production of a jar holder which is adapted to be formed by having two U-shaped frames pivot-ally held together.
Another object of this invention is in the production of a jar lifter which is provided with yieldable means upon its lower end for securely holding a jar therebetween.
With these and other objects in view, this invention consists of certain novel combinations, constructions and arrangements of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a side elevation of the device showing the same attached to a jar.
Fig. 2 is a detail perspective view of the device.
Fig. 3 is a fragmentary view showing how the two sections are pivotally held together.
Fig. 4 is a section taken through the lower portion of one of the U-shaped frames, showing how the yieldable strip is held thereon.
By referring to the drawings by numerals, it will be seen that 1 designates the jar which is adapted to be held between the yieldable strips 2 which yieldable strips are carried upon the U-shaped frames 3 and 4. These U-shaped frames are provided upon their lower ends with the hook portions 5 which are adapted to receive the yieldable strips 2 as is clearly shown in Fig. 2.
Copies of-this patent may be obtained for five cents each, by addressing the The U-shaped frames are adapted to be pivoted together so that the operator of the device may grasp the two frames at their top portions, thereby securely holding the jar 1 within the yieldable strips 2 as is clearly shown in Fig. 1. This U-shaped frame 3 is provided with an axial portion 6 which is shaped to go through the eyeloop 7, thereby allowing the U-shaped frame 3 to pivot upon the frame f as is clearly shown in Fig. 3. By referring to Fig. l of the drawings, it will be seen that the yieldable means is a continuous piece which is adapted to sit within the hook portions 5 thereby securely holding the same from accidental displacement.
From the foregoing description it will be seen that a device has been produced whereby a jar of any shape or size may be easily and conveniently held between the yieldable strips 2. It will also be seen that a device has been produced which may be formed from two strands of wire being bent in U-shape one of said wires being provided with eye-loops and the other with axles as above described, whereby the two frames will pivot upon each other.
What is claimed is:
In a device of the class described, the combination of a primary U-shaped section with a secondary U-shaped section, said sections adapted to be formed from single strands of wire, said primary section being bent so as to form eye-loops, said secondary frame being bent so as to form axles adapted to pivot within said eye-loops, said sections being bent so as to provide hooks upon their end portions and stretching and yieldable jar engaging means provided upon said hooks, whereby diii'erently shaped and sized jars may be held.
In testimony whereof I hereunto aiiix my signature. I
RUFUS A. PARENT.
