State of Pennsylvania, havb invented a new' and useful Photographic-Printing Device, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to photographic printing devices and has more especial reference to a device of this character. in which photographic prints may be quickly and easily made with the use of a small amount of light. The object of this invention is to provide a photographic printing device of the character referred to, which willthrow a dii' used and even light upon all, parts of the negative and paper upon which the print is made.
A further object is to provide a device, of this character in which the lamp within the device is automatically lighted as the device is closed and automatically'extinguished as the device is opened. 4
A still further Object is to provide such a device in which prints may be quickly and readily made.
With these objects in view the invention consists in the novel construction and arrangement of parts, hereinafter described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and particularly pointed out in the appended claims, it being understood that various changes in the form, proportions, size and minor details of construction maybe made within the scope of the appended claims without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.

Similar numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts throughout the several figures of the drawing.
Referring more especially to the construction illustrated in the accompanying draw ings, the numeral 1 indicates a redeptacle formed of wood or other suitable material, said receptacle being shown in the drawings.

This receptacle may be of any other suitable form, however, it has. been found that better results are obtained by tapering the receptacle toward its lower extremity. A. frame 2 is provided around the. upper open extremity of the receptacle 1, said frame being provided with a central aperture 3, a strip 4 being provided along the rear edge of said frame. 1
' A cover is provided upon the frame 2 and is adapted to cover the central opening 3 thereof and extend beyond the edges of said opening, said cover being substantially the same as the cover or back of the ordinary photographic printing frame and comprising the members 5 and 6, which are hingedly connected together by means of hinges 7, a coil spring 8 being connected to the hinged edges of each of said members and adapted to normally hold said members in therelative position to each other as indicated in Fig. l of the drawing.
The rear member 5 of the cover is hingedly connected to the strip by means of double hinges 9,-said double hinges'allowing a slight vertical adjustment of the cover l4 as shown in "Fig. i of the drawings and the forward extremity of the forward cover member 6 is hingedly connected to the operating handle by means of a double hinge 15. A. pair of spring. pressure arms 16 are provided upon the operating handle 12 and adapted to contact with the cover to hold the same firmly in engagement with the negative and printing paper when the device is in the closed position.
The usual glass 17 may be provided in the shoulder or recess 18 located around the central aperture of the frame 2 when it is desired to print from the usual kodak' films or if it is desired to print from the ordinary plates the glass may be removed and the plate located within the recess 18. A sheet'of translucent material preferably finely ground glass 19, is located beneath the frame 2 and covers the central aperture 3 of faces with mirrors 20, the reflecting surfaces of said mirrors bein Preferably provided with a ground glass 1Sl1.
,The lower extremity of the receptacle is closed by the wall 21 and a high power electric lamp 22, preferabl an incandescent nitrogen bulb, is locate upon said lower wall, a small ruby light 23- being also provided upon said wall. leading-from a suitable. source of electrical supply are connected-to the ruby lamp 23, the wire 24 passin through the lamp 22 and being connected o aspring contact arm 26, the wire 25 leading from the ruby lamp to a contact plate 27 adapted to be engagedv by the spring arm 26. This spring switch member is located in a socket 28 formed in the forward portion'of the frame 2 and a finger 29 is carri (1 upon the under surface of the operating andle 12 and adapted to engage the spring arm 26, when the oper: ating handle is moved into the closed position as shown in Fig. 2, thus moving said spring arm into engagement with the contact plate 27 and closing the .circuit throng the lamp 22. 4
A sultable pad-30, of felt or the like, is provided upon the under surface of each of the cover members 5 and 6, said pad being of the ordinary construction. When the device is in the normal position as shown in Fig. 4 the spring 13 in the hinge 11 tends to hold the operating handle. 12 in engagement with the s ring bumper 14 and the coil spring .8 hol s the members 5 and 60f the cover in the position shown in said figure. a hinged cover upon said receptacle adapted to clamp the negative and paper in position, said cover com rising a member hingedly connected to sa1d receptacle and a second member hingedly connected to the free edge of said first member an operating handle hingedly connected to said receptacle and hingedly connected to therfree edge of said second hm ed member, and means for normally holding said cover in the raised position. v

comprising a receptacle, a lamp located in said receptacle, means at the upper ex-.
tremity of said receptacle adapted to receive a negative and sheet of paper, a hinged cover upon said receptacle adapted to clamp the negative and paper in position, said cover comprising a member hingedly connected to said receptacle and a second member hingedly connected to the free edge of said first member, an operatin handle hingedly connected to said receptac e and to the free edge of said second member, spring pressure arms 11 on said handle arranged to contact with said cover members, a spring connected to said handle to normally hold said handle in the raised position, and a bumper arranged to contact with said handle in the raised position.
