Be it known that I, GUY H. SILVA, a citizen of the United States, residing at San Die; :1 the county of San Diego and State of Cal usefiw an ignition system which automatically advances the spark with the increase of the speed of tee engine and is retarded with the decrease of the speed thereof, thus synchronizing the timer with the engine; sec- 0nd, to provide a system of this class which is positive in its action; third, to provide a system of this class which is simple and economical of construction, durable, easily installed and does not readily get out of order; fourth, to provide an ignition system of this class which utilizes a minimum of space in proportion to its elficiency.
With these and other objects in View as will appear hereinafter, my invention consists of certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of partsas will be hereinafter described in detail and particularly set forth in the appended claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to the characters of reference thereonwhich form a part of this specification, in which:
Figure 1 is a side elevational View of my specially constructed magneto generator in connection with a diagrammatic view of the remainder of the system and showing the mechanism in position for charging the condensers. Fig. 2 is a similar view showing the timer in contact with the condensers being fully charged and discharging into the primary coil of the transformer, and Fig-e is a diagrammatic view in a modified form of the construction and arrangement aside from the magneto generator, showing the timer inthe same relative position shown in Fig. 1.

The magnet 18 is provided with two pe'r manent magnetic fields 18 and in this mag net is mounted the. two-pole oppositely disposed armature 1 and engaging with said poles in the commutator 2 mounted on the axle 2 which commutator is provided with the two oppositely disposed segments 3 and,
4 and engaging with said commutator are the oppositely disposed brushes 5 and 6 so positioned as to collect current generated by the armature at the highest peak of wave. Connected'in parallel to these brushes 5 and 6 are the condensers 9 by means of the terminals 7 and 8 and conductors 22, 23 and 24. Connected to conductor 24 is a timer 10 which in the preferred construction as shown in Figs. 1 and 2 is provided with a contact 11 as shown in Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawing. Revolubly mounted in the timer 10 is a double contact timer switch 12 which is so connected to the axle 2 of the commutator 2 in any way desired that it revolves'at the same rate of speed as said commutator so as to be in perfect synchronism therewith. Electrically connecting the condenser 9 with the revolving switch 12 is a primary transformer coil 19 by means of the terminals 13 and 14 and conductors 22 and 25. This transformer is also composed of the bar 17 and secondary winding 19 forming a spark coil. The secondary winding is grounded through terminal 15 and ground 26. Connected to the other end of said secondary 9 to discharge into the primary winding 19 of the transformer thus causing two sparks with each revolution of the commutator 2 ch 12, which are distributed to the cylinders by the disand' E'S't I Specification of Letters Patent. Thus it will be noted that twice the number of sparks will occur with each revolution of the commutator so that therewill'be four sparks with each revolution in this modified construction.
The rest of the operation being the same as hereinbefore described.
Though I have shown and described a particular construction, combination and arrangement, I do not wish to be limited to this particular construction, combination and arrangement but desire to include in the purview of my invention the construction, combination and arrangement substantially as set forth in the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is: I
1.- In an ignition system, a current source comprising a magneto generator provided with permanent magnetic fields, an armature with oppositely disposed. poles, a commutator with oppositely disposed segments seventy degrees long, two brushes so positioned relatively to said commutator to collect current generated by the armature at the highest peak of wave, condensers, the
terminals of .each connected to each brush a of the magneto generator, a transformer prising a revoluble arm with a contact point engage with said contact twice in each revoon each oppositely disposed end adapted to lution, said switch connected to a terminal of the condenser, whereby two sparks are produced with each revolution of said condenser. v
2. In an ignition system, a current source comprising a magneto generator with permanent magnetic fields, a two-pole armature, a commutator with two segments oppositely disposed, two brushes so positioned in connection with said commutator to collect current generated by the armature at the highest peak of wave, a pair of condensers connected in series, each condenser connected to a brush of the magneto generator, a conductor connecting said condensers, the primary winding of a transformer connecting with said conductor, the other side of said primary winding electrically connected to a double-contact revoluble switch and a pair of contacts with which said switch engages, the terminal of one connecting with one of the brushes of said mag- 'neto generator and with one of said condensers and the terminal of the other contact connecting with the other switch of said magneto generator and with the said other condenser.
3. In an ignition system, a current source comprising a magneto generator with permanent magnetic fields, a two-pole armature, a commutator with two segments oppositely disposed, two brushes so positioned in connection with said commutator to collect current generated by the armature at the highest peak of wave, a pair of condensers connected in series, each condenser connected to a brush of the magneto generator, a conductor connecting said condensers, the primary winding of a transformer connecting with saidconductor, the other side of said primary winding electrically connected to a double contact revoluble switch and a pair of contacts with which said switch engages, the terminal of one connecting with one of the brushes of said magneto generator and with one of said condensers and the terminal of the other contact connecting with the other switch of said magneto generator and with the said other condenser and the secondary winding of said transformer {grounded from one terminal and the other: terminal connected with a distributer.
