To all zii/tom it may concern.'
" Be it known ,that l, Gnome J. Sricn'ru No'rH, a citizen 'of the United States, residing at Cincinnati, in the county of Humiltoh and State of 0hio,'huve invented certain new und useful Improvements in lnvcundescent-llectricdlump Plugs, of which the following is e specification. I
lily/invention relates to improvements in incandescent electric la'mps. @ne of its'objects is to provide un incandescent light bulb having av plug` iidepted to be interohangeebly employed i h sockets of diierent types. Another object to provide u simple, inexpensive und reliable combinetion of' plug contacts to enable the plug to be intercliargeubly employed with socket-.s of different types. Another object is to proyi'de e plug 'for the foregoing purpose buying' no detachable ports or projecting;- parts liable to become lost or injured und rendered inoperutive.v My invention also comprises certain details of form combination und arrangement, ull of whichy will he fully set forth in the description of the ucl coinpunyiug dY wings in Which:
Figure l is a. perspective View of an incandescent bulb und plug embodying my invention.
Fig. 2 is e perspective View of one type .of socket^ Fig. 3 is u plan 'view of'unother type of socket.
Fig. l is u sectional View illustre-ting" the lump plug in position in one oi che illustrated in Fig. f2.

ocndescent electric lump. G represents the lamp ilament, und H the metal plug to enter and secure the lamp in the lump socket. The plug is provided with projecting studs l which enter channels J in the sockets, which channels have pockets at their inuer ends to receive and retain the studs l to lock the plug in place in the socket. lluch type of socket provided With the sume type of channel d.
v The metal plug; H is lled and sealed by means or :i core body l( of insulating;1 inuteriul in which is embedded o centrally located metal Contact L which is connected by u wire 'Y embedded in the core material l' to one terminal ld of the filament. A metal Contact N et one side of contuctL is embedded in the core material K und has u Wire YV also leading to the terminal M. A. niet-:il Contact lj'vloceted in line with con-- toets li end N und at the opposite side of contact L is embedded in the core mute- The contacts lg lx, und l) ure insulated by the core from euch other und from the plug' il.
As illustruted in Fig. e u'lienrtlie plug inserted into the type of Socke illustrnted in Fig. 2, the shell A und plug lil ure brought into electrical Contact to conduct the current by wire S to the filament terminul l While the central springr pressed stud .B makes electrical Contact with contact member 'li to com ict the current to or `iiroin p" mins .e tlicrcl ougrli lr .c lump pl Cil asf-ii spectively establish electrical contact with the plug coma-sts bland l), and Ythe current lll' through stud i) to contact N tl'ience by the Wire to 'terminal irl, tl'ironnjli the filament to terminal li, and theme by vire Q and contact i to stud lll.
lt 'will be noted that lfliere are no .parts (letarlnibiy carried by 'the lamp plug, or any parts projecting' so as to be. rendered inoperative or otherwise injured. The studs l and channels vl insure the contacts ot', tbe plug and socket registeringAirrespectiye of which socket employed.
The structure herein illustrated and dc'- scribed is capable ot considerable modication without rdepartinw from the principle of my invention.
Having describe( ni y invention, what l l. in an incandescent lamp a bulb, a filament, and a plug comprising tubular casing; oli conducting material, forming one of the plug terminals and electrically connected to one 'terminal of the filament, a core oi' insulating material, a contact member centrally niountcd in the core body and eX- poseil. at the rear end thereof and in electrical contact with the opposite iilament terminal, and a plurality of Contact members located at opposite sides of said central contact vmember and mounted in the core body and exposed at the rear end of the core, one of said eccentrically mounted contact members being in electrical contact with one filament terminal and the opposite eccentricaliy mounted Contact member in electrical contact with the opposite ila nient terminal.
L.. An electrical. plu to be' interchangeably eniployed with sockets of different types con'iprisin` a cylindrical shell of con ducting` material to constitute one electrical contact, a core body WithinA said shell a contact member embedded centrally in 'the ifi-salse pairs Yto complete an electrical circuit.
8. in an incandescent electric lamp to be mte'rcl'iangeably employed with lamp sockets of different types a bulb, a filament lo- Y, cated therein with terminals atv the exterior oi the bulb, plug carried by said bulb and comprising` a cylindrical shell of conducting vmaterial to constitute one of the plug Contact members, a core body of insulating material occupying the interior ofsaid shell, a contact member embedded centrally in said core body and exposed at the rear end thereof, two contact members embed ded in said core body between the said cen tral contact member and said shell and eX posed at the, rear end of the core body, and conductors embedded in said core body connecting said respective contact members in pairs to opposite terminals of said filament.
4. In an. incandescent electric lamp a bulb, a filament located therein and pr-" Vided withl terminals at the exterior of the bulb, a plug of insulating material attached to said bulb Where said filament terminals emerge, a series of four contact members carried by and insulated from each other by the insulating material of said plug, and conductors leading through the body of said plug to connect said contact members up in pairs with the terminals of said lilament. y
ln testimony whereof I have ailixed my signature in the presence of two Witnesses.
