Be it known that l. LUTHER L. KNOX, a citizen of the United States, residing at Avalon, in the county of Allegheny and 5 State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful improvement in Tater-Cooled Floor Structures, of which the following 1s a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, this specification, in whichliigure 1 is a plan view partly broken away of a, door structure embodying my invention;

My invention has relation to water-cooled j ioors and is designed tol vrovide watercooled ioors or platforms or use around furnaces and the like; and is also designed to provide a oor of this character which can be manufactured at relatively low cost, which can be readily placed in position, and which is strong and durable.
Referring rst to that form of my invention shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 2a:
r@he door structure shown in Fig. -1 is composed of two similar sections or units piaced side by side. it will be understood that any number of these units may be employed according to the desired area, and
that they may be of similar or different shapes according to the shape of the space into which they are to be fitted. 2 and 3 designate water-circulating connections for the structure, and 4 a circulating connection between the two units.
rl`he water-cooled portion of the structure comprises a door plate 5 of relatively thick metah'to which is secured a bottom plate member 6, preferably formed of sheet metal shaped to form, with the ioor plate, a plurality of water-containing and circulating chambers 7. In the construction shown in these Iigures, the member 6 has a central rib portion 8, pressed upwardly therein and which is riveted to thefioor plate at 9. The edge portions of the member Gare flanged upwardly and thencevoutwardly, and the Seria?. No. tm.
outwardly turned anges 10 are riveted to the :door plate 5 at 10a. The lateral edge portions of the door plate beyond the edges of the member 6 are riveted to the flanges of Lil-beams 11. The adjacent sections of the floor abut each other on the -beams, the adjacent edges of the units being secured to opposite fianges of the same beam.
rEhe construction shown in Fig. 3 is similar to that just described, except that instead `lar to that shown in Fig. 3, except that instead of turning outwardly the upwardly flanged edges of the bottom members 6b, the upper edges of the vertical flanges are welded at 13 to the underside of the floor plate 5*.
1n the construction shown in Fig. 5, the bottom members 6 between each of the intermediate -beams 11c have their lateral edges downwardly flanged, as indicated at 14, and these flanges are riveted to the webs of the I-beams at 15. In this construction, the upper portions of the webs of the 1- beams form the baffles between adjacent chambers 7, and holes may be cut through these webs at any desired points, to provide circulating communications between adjacent chambers. instead of using complete E- beams, l may use beams composed of two separate channels 16, placed back to back, as indicated at the right-hand end 0f Fig. 5, whichillustrates the connection between two adjacent floor sections.

I claim:
1. A water-cooled floor structure, comprising substantially parallel flan ed beam members, a floor plate secured to tlgie upper flange of said beam members, and flanged bottom late members between the beams and forming with said floor plate a series of'hollow water-containing spaces, substantially as described.
2. A Water-cooled floor structure, comprising substantially parallel flanged beam members, a loor plate secured to the upper flange of said beam members, and flanged bottom plate members between the beams and forming with said floorl plate a series of hollow water-containing spaces, there being Water-circulating connections between the spaces, substantially as described.
3. A Water-cooled floor comprislng a floor plate, a plurality of flanged bottom memers secured to said plate and forming with the plate a plurality of water-containing chambers, and supporting beams secured to the floor late, some of said beams being between a jacent chambers, substantially as described.
4. A water-cooled floor comprising a floor plate, a plurality of'flanged bottom members securedito said plate and forming.,r with the plate a plurality of water-containing chambers,and supporting beams secured to the floor plate, some of said beams4 bein between adjacent chambers, said beams orming a structural part of the structure, substantially as described. l
5. A water-cooled floor comprising a floor plate, a lurality of bottom plate members having anged edges, and a plurality of beams having a web portion and upper flanges to which the floor plates are secured, the langed edges of the bottom plate members being secured to the web portions of said beams, substantially as described.
6. A Water cooled floor structure, comprising a plurality of floor supporting members, a floor plate supported thereon, and flanged bottom plate members between the supporting members forming with said floor plate a series of hollow Water containing spaces; substantially as described.
