Description
H. J. ROGERS.
improvement in Floral-Ornaments.
Patented July 26,1872' UNITED STATES HENRY JAMES ROGERS, OF ST. DENIS, MARYLAND.
IMPROVEMENT IN FLORAL ORNAMENTS.
Specification forming partof Letters Patent No. 129,173, dated July 16, 1872.
Specification describing Floral Ornament, invented by HENRY JAMES Roenns, of St. Denis, in the county of Baltimore and State of Maryland.
The invention will first be fully described, and then clearly pointed out in claim.
Figures 1- and 2 represent artificial flowers; Figs. 5, 6, 7 ,8, the holders; and Figs. 3 and 4 views of the flowers and holders applied together.
A A and B B] represent artificial'flowers of a suitable size and character to illustrate the idea which I have conceived, and which are provided with stems and leaves arranged to counterfeit nature and present the aspect desired. O is a strip of metal, having one or more projecting tubes, 0, at an angle thereto. To these strips are'attached a pin, D, and hook, E, by which they may be fastened at any part of the person. They may be formed in one piece, as shown in Fig. 4 of drawing, or in a series of pieces connected by a ring, or rings, F, as shown in Figs. 3, 7, 8.
The mode of applying the flowers is as follows: The stem being inserted within one of the tubes 0, the latter is pressed firmly together and made to clamp the former. A series of these tubes may be combined in one or in separate pieces, so as to represent any preferable design.
Having thus described all that is necessary to a full understanding of my invention, what I esteem to be new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The combination of artificial flowers with a metal holder having one or more compressible metal tubes, 0, as and for the purpose set forth.
2. The combination, with artificial flowers, of the strip 0 having one or more metal tubes,
0, and hook or pin D, as and for the purpose described.
