RAZOR.
APPLICATION FILED IuNE 8. 1916;

To all whom t may concern:

mon.
Be it known that I, FRANK Wm'rn, a citiresiding at St'.
Louis, State of Missouri, have invented a new and useful Razor, of which the followc ing is a speclication.
My invention relates to razors, the principal object of my'invention belng to combine a razor either of the ordinary or safety type with an electric currentY generating means and controlling means for the current whereby a mild electric current of the faradic type may be delivered to the user -of the razor. p
I attain. these objects by the means illustrated in the t accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 is an elevational 'view of a safety razor combined .with an electric generator, and an induction coil. Fig.x2 is an elevational view ofthe ordinary type 'of razor with which is combined an electric` current generator and an induction coil.
Referring by numerals to the accompanying drawings, l--designates the insulated handle of an ordinary' safety razor,A through which handle is vformed a bore or passage .way 2. 1 Leading `from a suitable. storage battery or source of electrical energy 3 isa. conductor 4 the same. being connected to the primary coil 5 of an induction coil. -The opposite end ofthis primary coil or winding is -connected to a vibrator 6 and leading therefrom to the storage battery is a conductor-7.
One end of a conductor 8 is connected to a metal part of the safet razor, said con; ductor leading through t e bore 2 and being connectedto the secondar winding 9 of the induction coil. Leading om the opposite endl of this secondary winding is a conductor 10 .which is connected to a'suitable electrode or'contact plate 11.
In the modified construction Villustrated in Fig. 2 the conductor 8l from the secondary winding of the induction coil is connected to the blade 12 of an ordinary razor. The induced `current passing through -the 'secondary winding and its connections is controlled by the usual adjustable member Specification of Letters lPatent.

- the skin so that the readily engaged by the edge of the razorof therazor in words, said current acts onjsald metal fibers use of a device of 13, the same being provided with a suitable handle 14.
4When my improved apparatus is in use the electrode 11 is applied to the arm or body'of the user while the razor is used upon the face in the usual manner. The person uslng the razor regulates the vcurrent by manipulating the member 13 and when the blade of the razor makes contact with the persons face a mild current 4of the faradic typeis delivered to the user.
This faradic current has the effect of raising the hairs on ends thereof may be blade and likewise said ycurrent has the effect of maintaining the proper alinement, or in other the same as when the razor is stropped.
metal fibers on -the edge' Patented Jan'. 14,' 1919.

The faradic current is widely employed as a means of curing or preventing certain diseases, and is altogether different from the galvanic current inaction. It shows less variation betweenthe eliect of poles because j it is an alternating current and the poles change too quickly for chemical results to v 4be manifested; The feature which gives this current its true value is its ability to cause muscular contractions with each make or break of the current. The result of these contractions is the exercise of the muscular tissues and consequent improvement in all the various bodily processes.
There is'an increased oxidation of the tissues Tand an increased elimination of thel v poisons of Waste products, therefore the faradic current may be4 termed a. massage current by reason of thefact that it increases cellular. activity and is indicated in all conditions where increased nutrition, either'locally or generally is desired. Thus bythe the alinement of the metalfibersin the edge of the razor is maintained and at the same time a mild and helpful electric current is delivered to the user of the razor. Furthermore, the operation lof shaving is madecomparatively easy by reason' of the fact that the current delivered to the skin along the my improved construction edge of the razor has the eect of raising the ends of the hairs so that they may be readily engaged by the edge of the blade.
I claim:
In a device of the class described, the combination with a razor, of a source of electrical energy, an induction coil, a connection from the primary coil of said induction coil to said battery, a vibrator in said connection, a connection from the secondary coil of the 10 induction coil to the ra'zor, an electrode and an electrical connection from said electrode to the secondary coil of said induction coil.
In testimony .whereof I hereunto aiIX my signature this 3d day of vJ une 1916.
