DOLL FURNITURE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
. Application filed June 21, 1916. Serial N 0. 105,003.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EPATHA R. H. KREUT- NER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Kansas City, in the county of Jackson and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Doll F urniture; and I do hereby declare the 'following to be a full, clear, and exact descripthe invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in furniture, and more particularly to a folding davenport embodying such novel features of construction and simplicity as to especially adapt it for use as a childs toy.
This invention has for its primary object to provide a davenport which may be adjusted for use either as a bed, or lounge.
Withthis and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and formation of parts as will be hereinafter specifically described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which: j
Figure 1 represents a front elevation of I the invention adjusted for use as a couch or lounge,
Fig. 2 represents a plan view thereof, illustrating the invention in extended position for use as a bed,
Fig. 3 represents an end elevation of the invention adjusted as illustrated in Fig. 1, Fig. t-represents an enlarged transverse view on the line H of Fig 1,
frame in dotted lines.
Fig. 5 represents an enlarged vertlcal sectional View on the line 5-5 of Fig. 2.
Referring to the drawing in detail, wherem similar reference numerals designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, the numeral 6 indicates generally the relatively stationary frame consisting of a pair of spaced longitudinal members 7, connected at their opposite ends by end members 8. The frame 6 is supported upon four legs 9.
A pair of end members 11 are pivotally secured at 12 to angle plates 13 carried by the frame 6 and constitute parts of a tively adjustable frame, designated generally by the numeral 10, and also including a pair of supporting legs 16 pivotally secured to the end members 11 at 17 and being its longitudinal edges stitutes a back.
relaconnected at their upper ends by a longitudinal member 14. hen adjusted in the horizontal position illustrated in Figs. 2 and 5 the relatively adjustable frame 10 is supported upon the legs 16 and the upward swinging movement of the adjustable frame 10 is limited by a pair of abutments 18 adapted to engage the angle plates 13. legs 16 are'connected with the legs 9 by A fabric bottom 21 is secured along one of 7 22 to one of the longitudinal members 7 of the relatively stationary frame 6 and the remaining edges thereof are secured respectively to the longitudinal and end members 23 and 24, respectively, of a supporting frame for the bottom. The end members 24 of that the bottom 21 is f woven w1re, or other suitable in Fig. 1, tion the hinged portion of The axis of the pivots or h1nges25 is removed inwardly, with relation to the relatively stationary frame 6, from the axis of the pivot pins 12, as clearly shown in dotted lines in Fig. 4, so that as the hinged portion of the supporting frame is moved to a vertical'position, the longitudinal member 23 is elevated and lies approximately flush with the horizontal member 14 thereby concealing the latter.
What I claim is:
1. In combination, a relatively stationary frame, supporting legs therefor, an adjustable to frame pivotally secured to the first mentioned frame, pivoted supporting legs for the adjustable frame, said adjustable frame including a bar rigidly connecting said pivoted legs,
means to keep the legs Patented Jan. 7, 1919.
H10, rear portion of said other section in hori- -zontal position when the adjustable frame two sections, one
constantly vertical, a flexible bottom, a supporting frame for said bottom including of the sections being, secured to the relatively stationary frame,
'means hingedly securingthe other section to the first mentioned section and having its axis arranged inwardly of the pivotal connection between the relatively stationary and adjustable frames, and a ledge carried by'the said bar and adapted to support the is extended.
' 15 frame, supporting legs therefor,
2. In combination, a relatively stationary able frame including a pair of end meman adj ustbers, angle plates secured to said stationary frame and pivotally supportingv the adjustable frame, a longitudinal member pivotally secured to the free ends of the end members,
legs rigidly secured to the longitudinal member, abutments carried by the last-mentioned legs movable against said angle plates, and
a links pivotally connecting the first and lastmentioned supporting legs.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature
