Another object of the invention resides in the provision of a deviceof this character which will be comparatively inexpensive and in which the horn proper serves'also as part of the lamp and the reflector serves as part of the horn.
A further object of the invention resides in the provision of a device of this character in which a conventional form of electric bulb may be employed and the complete device mounted in the'usual manner upon a motor vehicle or motor cycle and the electric current necessary for the horn and lamp supplied from a storage battery or the like. I
.With these general objects in view and others that will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same con sists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the' accompanym drawings, and pointed out in the appende claim.

Fig. 3 is a front end elevation. Referring more in detail to the drawings, lfldesignates the handle by means of which the complete device may "be moved toldirect the light rays. The handle '1 is carried by the cover 2 which is secured by suitable means to the rear end of the casi 3 or sound box, which is in turn provide with an outwardlydirected flange 4 around its forward end. A correspondingly formed flange 5 carried by the small inner end of the 1 horn or bell 6, is secured to the flange 4,. as clearly shown in the drawings.
An extension 8 of the flange 4 serves as supportlng means for the entire device and carries'the binding posts 9 to which are connected the feed wires 10 of the electric lamp or bulb 11. The bulb 11 is positioned within the concave reflector 12 mounted within thehorn 6 and is secured in proper position by a clamplng ring 13 positioned at the end of the socket 14 formed around the central opening of the reflector 12 and extending rearwardly. It will be understood that a clamping screw 15 is ad-justably secured through the turned ends of the clamping r ng 13. It will also be understood that the ring 13 is engaged around the metallic sleeve at the end of the bulb 11.
The reflector 12 may be formed of any sultable material and is secured in the flared/ end of the horn proper 6 by a plurality of 75 spaced straps 16 secured by one end to the outer face of the reflector 12 and having their opposite ends bent back and secured in a suitable manner to the horn proper 6.
. Positioned in the forward end of the caslng or sound box 3 is a magnet supporting bar l7 which has its opposite ends turned and secured to the casing or sound box 3 by suitable securing members 18. The magnets 19 are supported by the bar 17 and one of the wires leading from said magnets 19 is connected with one of the binding posts 20 secured in the side of the casing or sound box 3. The feed wires 21 are connected to the binding post 20. A supporting bar 22 is positioned in the rear end of the casing or sound box 3 and secured to the same by a suitable securing member 23 engaged through a turned end of said supporting bar 22. A second securing member 23 is also extended through the turned end of an armature supporting leaf spring 24, upon which is mounted the armature arm 25. Between the turned ends of the supporting bar 22 and the armature supporting leaf spring 24 there is interposed an insulating block 24. A tension adjusting screw 26 is adjustably mounted in the free end of the supporting bar 22 and bears against a c011 tact block 27 carried by the armature arm 25. The armature arm 25 isadapted to'be attracted by the magnets 19 in the usual manner and has an insulating block 28 mounted u on its forward side. ghisf block is adapted to contact with the rear en;d of the sound. bar operating post 29 positloned between the magnets 19 to cause areoiprocating movement of said post 29. The post 29 extends turned end. The securing member 23 may serve to retain the end of the wire in engagement with the spring. The other bindmg post is connected to the supporting bar 22 by means of a jumper connection 22.
The vibrating sound bar .32 is formed of a thin strip of metal or other suitable material which will, when vibrated rapidly under influence of the armature arm 25 attracted by the energized magnets 19, cause the creation of sound waves which will travel through the horn proper 6, around the re-v flector l2 and result in the sounding of an alarm to warn persons of danger, the tone and volume of the sound or alarm depending upon the material'of the vibrating sound bar 32 and the number of vibrations of the same per second.
When the circuit is closed in the usual manner the armature 25 is caused to vibrate by the attraction of the magnets 19. As
soon as the armature moves a suflicient dis tance, the contact 27 will leave the end of the contact screw 26, thus breaking the circuit to the magnet. As soon as this breaking occurs, the spring 24:.causes the contact 27 to again complete the circuit by contacting the screw 26. This rapid vibration pro-. duces a corresponding vibratory movement of the bar 32. This is accomplished through the armature block 28 striking the end of the sound post 29. The resiliency of the bar 32 will tend to normally position the bar 29 so that its free end will be adapted eto be struck by the block 28 during the vibration of the armature 24.
From the foregoing it will be evident that this form of combined horn and lamp will be especially adapted for use upon automobiles and the horn and 'light may be controlled independently While receiving an electric current from a common source ofsupply.
While the form of the invention herein shown and described is What is believed to be the preferred embodiment thereof, it is nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may be made without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as claimed.
I claim- A device as described, comprising a cylindrical casing, a removable plate closing one end of said casing, an outwardly directed flange formed on the opposite end of said casing an extension formed on said flange and adapted to be attached to a support, binding posts carried by said extension, a bell shaped casing provided at its smaller end with a flange adapted to be secured to said first flange, a vibratory sound bar clamped between said flanges, electro-magnetic means positioned in said cylindrical casing and arranged to impart vibratory movement to said bar, a reflector positioned in said bell shaped casing forwardly of said bar, a light bulb mounted within said reflector an electrical connection between said bulb and the binding post carried by said extension.
