citizen of the United States, residing'at d tate 5 of Ohio, have invented new and useful Im-. f

This lnvention relates to shoe. heels and more particularly to cushion'heels formed of rubber or other elastic material and'designed for application to shoes.
' The primary object of the invention is to provide a heel of the. above character with,
a gripping means upon its tread surface, the
15 sald means being formed by providing the heel with a concaved upper surface for con tact with the shoe, the front edge of or bottomedge, the manner of securing the heel upon the shoe causing the .concaved surface to be transferred to the lower face of the-*- eel to provide the tread, with sucwith a head or rib along tion me ns. 7
In th' j I a; sect onal view of. a frag- ,throfigh the heel end of is a. detail sectionalview of the caved surface flat'against the .su ace o'f'the shoe with which it contacts. The lower or the shoe either at the top vided at each end upper surface being adapted to be secured I e improved heel' applied .tioned surface and side wings extendln flat .and is provided along its front edge withia transverse rib When. the heel is secured position upon a shoe and the upper surface 11 is drawn intoclos'e contact with the shoe, the body of the heel .will' be flexedand the concavity transferred to the tread surface 13, the rib 14 and the side walls 15 together with the surrounding edge of the heel providing a suction gripping means which will take hold of the'surface being walked upon and pre-.
vent the wearer from slipping.
Having described the invention, what is claimed is 1. A shoe heel formed of compressible material embodying a concaved upper surface, a flat tread surface, a rib extending across the lowet'edge of the last -men-' tioned surface and tapering side wings pro of the rib, the concaved in close contact. to the heel of the shoe in a.
manner to provide a concaved tread surface for engagement with" the ground.
2. A' shoe heel formed of compressible material and embodying a. concaved upper surface,
rearwardly from each end of saidrib, sai wings tapering and merging into the lower surface of the heel, which, together with the rib define a depression and forman inclined surface upon the bottom of the heel.
In testimony whereof I a'flix my signature.'
