Description
Improvement in D evice's fpr Exhibiting Dry Goods.
N0. 128,943 H Patented July 16, I872.
gra'rns IMPROVEMENT IN DEVICES FoR EXHIBITING DRY eooos.
Specification forming patt of Letters Patent No. 128,943, dated July 16, 1872.
SPECIFIOATION.
To all whom it may concern: 7
Be it known that I, JOSEPH J. BIsEL, of Williamsport, in the county of Lycomin g and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Device for Exhibiting Dry Goods; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the'letters of reference marked thereon.
This invention has for its object the exhibition, in a convenient manner, of dry goods in the piece or bundle; and consists, mainly, in the employment of movable upright pins in connection with a suitable base or standard, as will be fully described hereinafter.
In the drawing, Figure 1 represents a perspective view; Figs. 2 and 3, plan views of my improved device; and Fig. 4, a partial view in section, showing the manner of securing the pins in place.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will now proceed to describe fully the construction and the method of employment of the same.
A represents the base or supporting portion of the device, consisting of a frame constructed of any proper material, which is provided with cross-bars a a, having a central projecting ledge or flange, a a, as shown. The frame may be of any desired shape, and the bars be arranged in any proper manner. I prefer, however, to make the frame diamond-shaped, with bars arranged parallel to two of its sides.
.13 B represent the pins, constructed of any suitable material, and proper size, which are provided at their lower ends with a threaded portion, 1), by means of which they are secured to the blocks a c placed above and below the ledge a of the frame, as shown. The lower block only is threaded, the upper being held in position by means of the shoulder on the pin. By means of this construction it will be perceived that the position of the pins in the frame may be readily adjusted at will. In
Figs. 1 and 3 of the drawing a portion of the I cross-bars are represented as being arranged at right angles to the others, and consequently the pins located in that portion of the frame are moved in lines at right angles to the others.
a The device is employed as follows: The bundles or pieces to be exhibited are placed upon their edges between the pins, the latter being adjusted to suit the varying thickness. In this position their ends can be readily inspected, particularly if the diamond shape be given to the frame, for then the ends extend beyond the line of one of the pins, and the ends of the goods can be readily turned to that side. By making a portion of the crossbars lie at right angles to the others goods may be exhibited at two different places on the frame.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination of the frame A and the adjustable pins B, the parts being constructed substantially as described, for the purpose set forth.
This specification signed and witnessed this 11th day of June, 1872.
JOSEPH J. BISEL.
