Description

A. H. LEIGHTON.
HOT WATER BQTTLE.
APPLICATION FILED AUG.4. 19:6.

INVENTOR WITNESSES ATTORN EY ARIEL H. LEIGI-ITON, 0F MCMINNVILLE, OREGON.
HOT-WATER BOTTLE.
Application filed August 4, 1916.
T 0 all whom it may concern 131; it known that I, ARIEL H. LEIGHTON, a citizen of the United States, residing at McMinnville, in the county of Yamhill and State of Oregon, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hot-Water Bottles, of which the following is a specifi cation.
This invention relates to containers and the object of the same is to provide a device that is constructed preferably of copper adapted to receive hot water.
Another object of the invention resides in the provision of a hot water container cf the kind above set forth that is so constructed as to provide against the collapse of the same.
A still further object of this invention resides in the production of a container of the kind above described, that is simple in construction, efficient in operation and consists of the minimum number of parts.
lVith these and other objects in view, this invention consists of certain novel constructions COlllbllltliiiOQS and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the accompanying d awings:
Figure 1 is a longitudinal sectional view of the improved device.
Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the device with a section thereof removed.
Referring to the parts by rcfcence numerals, this device comprises a pair of sections 10 and 11, the said section 10 having at its edge a flange 12 that is adapted to be bent over the adjacent edge of the sec tion 11. Solder or other suitable means can be applied at the seam before described, if so desired. The section 11 has a suitable reinforcing water tight enlargement 13 adjacent one end thereof which is adapted to retain the means for connecting the handle 14 to the said section. The opposite section 10 of the device is provided with an opening into which a suitable closure 15 is secured.
Copies of this patent may be obtained for Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 17, 1918.
Serial No. 113,141.
A bracing wall for the two sections is provided the same being circular in form and designated by the numeral 16. Flanges 17 are formed on the upper and lower edges of the wall 15 for engagement with the in ner faces of the sections 10 and 11. Suitable fastening means can be secured to the flanges l7 and the sections 10 and 11 if so desired. Openings 18 are provided in the wall 16 so that the water can pass through the wall.
As is well known copper will quickly take heat and retain the same for a greater length of time than most metals. However it has been found by practical experience that should the device he made without the wall 16, after the hot water has been placed in the same for quite a length of time the same will collapse.
It is obvious that minor changes may be made in the form and construction of this invention without departing from'the material parts thereof. It is therefore not wished to confine the invention to the exact form herein shown and described, but it is wished to include all such as properly come within the scope claimed.
I claim:
In a device of the kind described comprising a pair of sections forming a container, means in one of said sections wherebv water can be placed in the container or discharged therefrom, abracing wall in said container having flanges on the up or and lower ends thereof for enga ement with the inner faces of said sections said bracing wall being provided with openings to allow for the passage of water therethrough.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
