Referring to Figs. 1 to 5., the girdle or belt is' shown to comprise a Ipair of main members 20 and 55.

The-member 2O consists of the pair of outer straps 21, 22, and the pair of inner straps 23, 24. The strap 21 preferably converges at itsouter end. The two pairs of straps 21, 22, and 23, 24 at their outer ends are-connected to a tab 25, which converges at its outer edge and at the lower portion thereof. The two pairs of straps converge at their inner ends where they form the single strap 30. The tab 25 has embedded therein the eyelets 31, and the single strap 30 has connected thereto a hook 32 on the outer face thereof.

The pair of straps 21, 22 and 23, 24 are connected to the guide braces 36 to 40. The guide braces 36, 37 and 38 each comprise a resilient strip of material 40, preferably of spring steel, which is covered by a fibrous covering 41. Stitching 42 and 43 connects the members of thecoveri'ng 41 and holds the ends ofthe strip 40v inv place. The stitching is omitted at the central portions of the covering 41,.to form a guide open ing 44, the function of which will be lpresently described. The upper and lower ends of the guide braces 36 to 38 are Within the two members a and b of the strap 21 and between the member c and d of the strap 22.

The tab 25 extends below the strap 22 and supplemental straps 46 and 47 connect the lower portion of the tab 25 and the strap 22 and constitute an abdominal attachment. The guide braces 39 and 40 are essentially similar to 36, 37, and 38, with the exception that they pass between'the members o and d of the strap 22 and extend to and are fas tened -to the outer faces of the straps 46 and 457.

Through the member afl of the strap 21, the covering 41 and the strip 40 is secured a fastener with the head 48 and the flexible shank 48a. The shank is spread after passing through the inner portion of the 'covering 4 to hold the fastener in place. Stitching 49 in the strap 2l provides a pocket 50 for the ends of the. Shanks of the faStener, and prevents said fastener coming in contact with the wearer when the girdle or belt is in use. A garment in this case a pair of trousers 52 is detach'ably supported on the said fastener, the heads 48 being located on the outside of the garment.

The member 55 of the girdle comprises the pair of straps 56, 57, similar to 21, 22 and the pair of straps 58, 59, similar to 23, 24. The latter two pairs vof straps converge into the single-strap 60,:similar to 30, and which has connected thereto a number of eyelets 61. A tab 65 similar to 25 and reinforced with a resilient strip of material connects the outer ends ofv the two pairs of straps 56, 57 vand 58, 59. The tab 65 extends below the straps 57, and supplemental straps 66, 67, respectively similar to 46 and 47 connect the lowerportion of the tab 65 and the strap 57, and constitutes an abdomi nal attachment. Hooks 70 on the outer face ofthe tab are properly located to connect ivith the eyelets 31 of the tab 25, when the girdle or belt is in place upon thewearer. The strap 56 also has fasteners 48 connected thereto as described for the strap 21. Guide braces 76, 77, 78, 79 and 80 respectively similar to 36 to 40 connect the pairs of straps 56, 57 and 58, 59. Two of said guide braces 79 and 80 are connected with the supplemental straps 66 and 67, bearing against the outer facings ofthe latter as described for the braces 39 and 40.

In the modification shown in Fig. 6 a girdle or belt is represented which is similar to that already described except that a pair of the straps of each member are omitted. The girdle or belt in this case comprises the members 85 and- 95. The member 85 comprises a single pair of straps 86, 87 similar respectively to 21, 22 and which .converge into the single strap 88, similar to 30 with its hook 32. The member 95 comprises the pair of straps 89, 90 respectively `similar to 56, 57. The tabs 25 and 65 respectively connectthe endsof the pair of straps 86, 87, and 89, 90. The tab 25 is shown with its eyelets 31 and tab '65 is shown with its hooks 70. Supplemental straps 46, 47, 66 and 67 as already described and constituting -an abdominal "attachment are shown in Fig. 6.

In Fig. 7 a girdle or belt is shown similar to that represented in Fig. 6, with the-exception that the supplemental straps 46, 47 66 and-67 are omitted. It is shown to comprise the members 100 and 125 respectively similar to 85 and 95. The member 100 'is comprised of a pair of straps 101, 102 similar respectively to 86, 87, and which terminate in the single strap 103 similar to 88. The member 125 is comprised of a pair of straps 106, 107 which terminate inthe single strap 108. The straps 100, 102 at their outer ends are connected by the tab 115 and the straps 106, 107 are connected at their outer ends by the tab 116. Eyelets 117 are provided for the tab 115 and hooks 118 are secured to the tab 116. Eyelets 119 are provided for the strap 108 and a hook 120 extends from the strap 108. Guide braces 36 to y88 as already described and similar guide braces 89, 40a connect the straps of the member 100l and guide braces 76, 77, 78 asl already described and similar guide braces79El and 80a connect the straps of' the member 125. When the girdle belt is in use and referring particularly to Figs. 1 to 5a, the hooks 70 of the tab 65 engage the eyelets 31 of the tab 25, and the hook 32 of the strap 30 engages any ofthe eyelets 61 of the strap 60. Thereby thegirdle can be made to conormto the contour of the body of the user, the strap 30 bei-n .slidable in the guide braces 76 to 80 of t e member 55, and the strap 60 being slidable in the guide braces -36 to 40 of the member 20. The girdle canl be changed in size making it smaller or larger to suit the user by separating-or bringing together the guide braces 36 and 76 and maintaining the tabs 25- and 65 in the normal positions as shown particularly in Fig. l

The straps 46, 47 and 66, 67, support the abdomen, and always remain-infthesame position. When the girdle or. belt is adjusted to various sizes the straps=30 and 60 are used to make theV adjustments The number of straps like 21, 22, 23, E24-'of a memberl of the girdle or belt may be increased.` v

The style of the fasteners having the heads 48 may be changed. A fastener like the one. shown in' Fig. 5b mayl be used and which consists of the head 125, shank 126 and bottom disk 127. i

Having described myinvention what I desire to secure by Letters Patent 'and claim 1s:-

4. 4In a girdle the-combination of a pair of members .each member comprising a number of straps terminating in a single strap, a tab connecting the ends of each of said number of straps, means to connect the tabs to each other, means to connect the ends of the single straps to each other at different points to vary the length of the girdle or belt, fasteners extending from one of each of the straps of the number of straps to support a garment, and an abdominal at-v tachment extending from each of the members.

5. In a girdle the combination of a pair of members, each member comprising straps terminating in a single strap, means in each member to slidably guide the single strap of copies of this patent may be obtained for ve cents each, by addressing the the other member, pockets formed in one of the straps of each member and fasteners each With a head and a flexible shank extending through the latter straps, the flexible Shanks spread at their ends and located in said pockets, the said fasteners adapted to support a garment.
