IMPROVEMENT IN HORSE'POWERS.
.Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 127,763, dated J une 11,1872.
Specification describing a new and Improved Horse-Power, invented by WILLIAMl G. HAL- BERT, of Columbus, in the county of Lowndes and State of Mississippi.
The drawing represents an inverted pla-n view of my new horsepower.
This invention is an improvement in horsepowers 5 and consists in the construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter described.
Ain the drawing represents the main wheel of a horse-power, provided with cogs on its upper face or edge and mounted upon a shaft, B, which has its bearings in the frame-work of the apparatus. Some distance below the wheel A are fitted, through the shaft B, two radial beams, C C, each somewhat longer than the diameter of the wheel, and both slotted at both ends. D D are the draft-beams or levers,
to the outer ends of which the horses are hitched. The inner end of each beam D is, by an inclined brace, E, connected with the under side of the wheel A, while near its middle it is, by a pin or bolt, a, connected with the end of one ofthe beams C, as shown. The pin a can play in the slotof C. The four ends of the two beams C may in this manner be connected with as many draft-beams or levers.
