To all whom it may concern:

Be it I-kDOWH that I; ALBERT lVILLrAM' S HMID, a citizen of the Swiss Republic, and resident of Basel, Switzerland have invented new and useful Improvements in Apparatus for Treating- Silk and other Textile Goods in Hanks'by- Means of Liquids, of which the followi and exact specification.

In the dyeing of silk and othertextiles in hanks it is already known to suspend these hanks on reels with a horizontal, eccentric axis of revolution so that upon the turning of these reels the hanks will: receive motions favorable to the dyeing or other treatment of the goods, namely a to-and -fro motion and a moving about in the d-ye bath or a similar treating loath. The present invention relates to 'an apparatus for the treatment of textile goods in the form ofhanksiwithiliquids inwhich,

on the one hand the to-and-fro movement andinoving about of the goods in*the treatingliquid is effected inithe well-knownmanner by therrotation of; reelsserving as thank supports provided with eccentri'oshaftsof rotation, while on the other hand the eccentric shaft. of rotation of each such reel, instead of being; heldfast in.the:horizont'al positionv as hitherto, is so. supported rp'ivotally/that the reel can. be brought: to-such a raisedposition, that-by this: means the hanks suspended from it caneberaised entirely out ofitheliquid'bath. Moreover, the. raising of theseparate reels when charged with than-ks can befacilitated by: the arrangement, that the afOresaidbearing, of the-eccentric reel shafthas .-an extension beyond the aforesaidfpivotal point and is provided there with a counter-balance weight.

Furthermore, the aforesaidwbearing may be provided with a hook which upon the raising of 'thevreel cansbe engagedzwithi a" g s a full, clear,

During the dyeing the reels are in the horizontal position; shown in, the drawing and these reels are actuated in the well known 'manner by their eccentric shafts T C,

and F therefor around the pivot of the bearing F. By this means all the hanks suspended from the reel are raised completely out of the dye bath, provided that the distance between the pivot c and the rear end of the reel is large enough; in other cases the lower part of the hanks can conveniently be turned back to brmg the hanks completely out of the bath. As soon as the reel when being. raised reaches its highest position, the hook f engages with the hook it so that the frame is held in this elevated position and the desired manipulations of the bath can be undertaken. When it is desired to let down the reel again, it is first lifted somewhat above the normal high position,

so that the fingeng strikes against the lower arm of the releasing lever z and thereby releases the hook h from the hook f. The reel is then allowed to descend quickly so as to immediately bring the hook f out of reach of the hook it. a

What I claim is:

1. In an apparatus for thetreating of silk and other textiles in the form of hanks with liquids, the combination with a treatment vessel of a normally horizontal hank support, an eccentric rotary shaft carrying said hank support, a bearing for said shaft pivotally mounted at such a distance. from the hank support that when the latter is raised, the hanks suspended from it are'automatically lifted quite above the liquid in the vessel, and a worm gear placed between the pivotal point of said bearing and the hank support for. mparting a rotary mo- 7 tion to the said shaft andarranged so as to allowthe pivotal raising of the hank supa port, substantially as described. 40

i 2. In an apparatus for the treating of silk and other textiles'in the form of hanks port, the said bearing being prolonged beyond its pivotal pointand being provided with a counter-balance weight in order to facilitate the raising of the hank support, substantially as described. i

In an apparatus for the treating of silk and other textiles in the form of hanks with liquids, the combination with a treatment vessel of a normally horizontal hank support, an eccentric rotary shaft carrying said hank support, a bearingfor said shaft pivotally mounted at such a distance from ported on the machine frame in such a position that on the lifting of the hank support the first hook can engage with the second hook for the purpose of holding the hank support in its raised position, substantially as described.

4. In an apparatus for the treating of silk and other teXtiles in the form of banks with liquids, the combination with a treatment vessel of a normally horizontal hank support, an eccentric rotary shaft carrying said hank support, a bearing for said shaft pivotally mounted at such a distance from the hank support that when the latter is raised, the hanks suspended from it are automatically lifted quite above the liquid in the' vessel, and a worm gear placed between thepivotal point of said bearing and the hank support for imparting a rotary motion to the hank support, the said hearing being provided with a counter-balance weight in order to facilitate the raising of the hank support and with a hook, a second hook being supported on the machine frame in such a position that on the lifting of the hank support the first hook can engage with thesecond hook for the purpose of holding the hanksupport in its raised position, the said second hook being combined with a releasing lever and the said bearing being also provided with apush finger so arranged with regard to the said releasing lever that,

when the hank support is raised a little above the position in which the two hooks mutually engage, the push finger displaces the releasing lever and releases thereby the hook supported on the machine frame from the other hook, to allow of lowering of the hank support, substantially as described.
