Be it known that I, HENNING E. FEDER- snN, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Kenosha, in the county of Kenosha and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Utensil-Protectors; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact de- This invention refers to utensil protectors and is particularly adapted for use in connection with the conventional type of clothes boiler to protect the same from wear resulting from contact with the rough surfaces of a gas lplate or other form of heatin device.

The primary object of the invention is to provide a lprotector of the class described which can be detachably and at the same time rigidly secured to the utensil.

A further object of the invention is `Vto provide a protector having its bottom normally arched and adapted to be iattened out by the weight of the utensil and its contents thus insuring a perfect contact betweenk the protector and utensil'to prevent deterioration of the latter through overheating.

The invention in one practical form in which it Vmay be embodied is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:

away from the utensil eXtreme heat to which it is subject would rapidly deteriorate or burn out the wire. However, in the present construction where a perfect contact is had at all time thewire will be sufficiently cool to over-come this possibility.

At a suitable point the beadB is provided with a cut out portion 6 at which point the locking link 7 of the strap4 is positioned. This construction will allow the strap 4L t0 be permanently retained by the bead 3 and at the same time due to the cut out portion 6 will permit ready manipulation of the locking link 7 kwhich is secured thereto to the opposite ends of the strap. The locking link is further provided -with a handle 8 tofacilitate operation of the link in either direction to lock or unlock the retaining strap as desired.

While I have shown the inventionattached to a wash boiler lit will be readily appreciated that I might use the same in connection with any form of cooking utensil without departing from lthe invention.

What isclaimed is 1. Infcombination with a utensil, a protector comprising a woven wire shield detachably secured to the utensil and having its bottomin contact with the utensil to prevent overheating of the shield, and means associated `withthe shield for detachably securing same to the utensil.
