Be it known that I, RUDOLPH E. DRALLE, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of St. Louis, State of Missouri, have invented a certain new and useful Cover for Display-Lasts for Shoes and the like, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to-theaccompanying drawing, forming a part thereof.

This invention relates generally to display-lasts for shoes and the like and, more particularly, to a certain new and useful cover therefor, the chief object of my present invention being to provide a simple and inexpensive flexible cover adapted to snugly envelop and thereby conceal the last and increase the attractiveness of the display of the shoe, the cover being as and when desired, conveniently slipped into enveloping 1 position upon the" last and having members adapted for engagement with or attachment to the last to removably secure the cover tightly, smoothly, and evenly upon the last both while the last is being inserted into, and afterward while the last is in display position in, the shoe.

WVith the above and other objects in view, my present invention resides in the novel form and construction of the cover and in the novel arrangement and combination of the same with the display-last, all as hereinafter described and afterward pointed out in the claims.

Fig. 8 is an inverted plan view thereof; and

Fig. 4 is an inverted plan view of a slightly modified form of shoe-display-last enveloped by a slightly modified form of cover embodying my invention.

Referring to the said drawing, in which like reference characters refer to like parts throughout the several views, A indicates a shoe-last of any standard or approved form, the same, as seen in Fig. 2, having a shape or contour to neatly and snugly fit within a particular shoe, slipper, or the like for display purposes and being usually of wood, fiber, or like material.

era'bly elastic or stretchy fabric and of a color preferably to'matchthe color of the shoe, slipper, or the like to be displayed. The cover B is formed somewhat like a glove or casing to fit upon, and of a shape and contour, when distended, to correspond approximately with the shape and contour of, a particular last A. The cover B is adapted to be slipped substantially endwise over and upon the last A and, for such purpose, is cut away or apertured at the under forward portion thereof, as at 1, and when so fitting the cover B upon a last A, the heel of the last is first inserted into the cover and the cover then pulled forwardly intoenveloping position upon the last. At its, forward end, which is now loose upon the last, the cover B- is provided with a projecting extension b, which is reinforced by a short sectionof tape or the like 2 stitched or otherwise fiXed thereupon, the so reinforced toeportion Z) of the cover being adapted, when the cover B is disposed in enveloping position upon the last A, as shown, to be tightly folded over and under and attached as by tacks or the like 3 to and beneath, the toeportion a of the last. of the cover B, I also stitch or otherwise secure one end of a somewhat elongated and depending tab 4, which, also when the cover B is in enveloping position upon the last A, is in taut condition attached, as by a tack or the like 5, at its free end to and somewhat beneath the heel of the last, as seen in Figs. 2 and 3.

I The cover B, when in such enveloping and attached position upon the last A, fits the last snugly, smoothly, and without wrinkles, somewhat like a tight-fitting glove; and I have found from eizperience that by the use of my new cover the neatness and attractiveness of the displayed shoe, slipper, or the like are greatly enhanced.

The display-last A shown in Fig. 4 is provided at its toe-portion with a crossbrace 63. For use especially with lasts of this type, the toe reinforcing tape 2 of the cover B is provided with end-extensions 77, which are adapted, as shown, to be tied together around the brace 6 to attach the cover B at its toe-portion and in tightly pulled or taut condition upon the displaylast, the employment of tacks or other such attaching members for such purpose being obviated.

name to this the casing being adapted to be slipped endwise forwardly upon a last and to assume when upon the last approximately the shape and contour of the enveloped last, the casing at its forward end having a flexible extension adapted, when the casing is upon the last, to be folded over and under, and to be attached to and beneath, the toe-portion of the envelop last, and the casing at its heelportion having a tab that is adapted, when the casing is upon the last, to be attached to and beneath the heel-portion of the enveloped last.

As a new article of manufacture, an on I'- veloping-cover for shoe display-lasts, the same comprising a flexible casing of elastic material cut-away or apertured at its under forward portion, the casing being adapted to fit lasts of difieren-t sizes and to be slipped endwise forwardly upon a last and to assume when upon the last approximately the shape and contour of the enveloped last, and members on the casing including a foldable toeextension and a heel-tab adapted for attachment to the last when the casing is in enveloping position thereon.
