Be it known that I, NATHANIEL CARR FLEMING, a citizen of the United States, residing at Goldwater, in the county of Comanche and State of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Finger-Armor; and I do hereby declare the following to be afull, clear, and exact de scription of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to finger arm-or or protectors and has for its primary object to provide a thumb band and a forefinger band adapted to be securely positioned over the tips of the thumb and forefinger and which are constructed to expose portions of the thumb and forefinger so that a nail or other similar element may be freely and securely grasped therebetween to enable the same to be driven.

Another object of the invention is to provide a finger tip band having the forward end of the back portion thereof constructed to overlie and protect the finger nail against injury from any blow that may be delivered to the finger tip band. i

A further object of the invention is to provide metallic finger tips of the above stated character which are longitudinally tapered to snugly fit the fingers and which by virtue of their taper will serve to effectively deflect any blow that may be delivered thereto without injury to the fingers.

A still further object of the invention is to provide thumb bands pivotally connected together and forefinger bands pivotally connected together which are conveniently and securely held in position on the fingers by a suitable wrist band connected thereto.

lVith these and other objects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention comprises thevarious novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be more fully described hereinafter and set forth with particularity in the appended claim.

Referring more particularly to the draw-" ings, the reference numeral 1 represents a forefinger tip band and the reference numeral 2 forefinger bands, each of the bands being connected by links 3 which have their opposite ends pivotally connected to the hands by rivets or other suitable pivotal means, as indicated by the numeral 4.

The reference numeral 5 represents a thumb tip band and thenumeral -6 represents a thumb band which is connected to the thumb tip band by a link 7 pivotally connected at its opposite ends to these hands by rivets or other suitable pivotal means 8.

A wrist band 9 is adapted to be securely positioned around the wrist and is connected to the thumb band 6 and one of the finger bands2 through the medium of connectmg straps 10.

The thumb band 6 and the finger bands 2 are preferably constructed of leather or other pliable material while the thumb tip band and the finger tip band are preferably constructed of metal.

Since the thumb tip band and the finger tip band are substantially identical in construction, a description of one, it is thought, will be suficient for both. The thumb tip band is longitudinally tapered so as to snugly fit the thumb and by virtue of this taper, the band in some instances might be frictionally or tightly held upon the thumb without the use of the retaining means shown. It is also to be understood that by virtue of the longitudinal taper of the band that it will serve to deflect any blow that may be imparted thereto and thus prevent l the finger Or the band from being crushed or finger. The forward end portion of the back 13 of the band is inturned as indicated by the numeral 14: so as to overlie the end of the finger nail and thus protect the same in an effective manner.

In Fig. 5 will be seen a slightly modified form of finger tip band wherein the circumferential wall is gradually increased in thickness from the front 15 to the back 16 so as'to strengthen and reinforce the band against any portion of the same becoming crushed under a heavy blow.

By reference to Fig. 1, it will be apparent that by virtue of the forward end portions of the fronts of the finger and thumb tip bands bein cut away, portions of the fingers are expose whereby a nail or similar element may be readily and freely grasped in order to hold the same while it is being driven. By providing a plurality of finger bands and thumb bands having a flexible connection with each other, free use of the thumb and forefinger may be had at all times without the slightest inconvenience.

I claim Finger armor comprising thumb bands, means for pivotally connecting said thumb hands together, forefinger bands, means for pivotally connecting said forefinger bands together, the thumb tip band and the forefinger tip band having portions of their fronts cut away to expose portions of the thumb and forefinger, a wrist band, and means for connecting said thumb and forefinger bands to said wrist band.
