specification of Lettera Patent.
Patented Maw application filed October 92, 1917. herial No. 1.973%.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ISRAEL-LEVIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Los Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented a new and useful Sanitary Toilet-Seat Protector, of which the following is a specification This invention relates to a protector for.
toilet seats and to a means for packaging same.
Heretofore many attempts have been made to produce a satisfactory paper cover for toilet seats in ublic lavatories as the need of an article 0 this character has long been recognized. The majority of these attempts have been commercial failures on account of the manner of packaging or dispensing the article, for example the bulk of packages or stacks of flat sheets renders them inconvenient to handle and to dispose in small space, and the method of using rolls has not been generally adopted on account of waste and expense of maintaining a supply.
It is the object of this invention to provide a sheet paper toilet seat protector which is adapted to be folded into a cornpact space and to provide a container therefor by which the sheets may be arranged in narrow stacks and dispensed from coin operated machines.
Another object is to provide a sheet so formed as to readily conform to the curvature of a toilet seat and to be retained thereon against ready'displacement.
Other objects will appear hereinafter.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a view in perspective of the paper sheet.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view showing the manner of folding the sheet.
Fig. 3 is a perspective view showing how the folded sheet is rolled to form a cone.
Fig. 4 is a perspective view illustrating the container with the folded and rolled sheet therein.
In carrying out the invention, ll form an annulus 5 of paper of such size as to cover margin and formed with the ordinary toilet seat and to project over the outer and inner edges thereof. That the sheet may be conformed readily to the curvature of the seat surface, the paper employed is thin and craped being of the character commonly used in paper napkins and tablecloths.
It is desirable to stifl'en the edges of the sheet, particularly the outer edge, which is effected by coating the margin of the sheet with a border 6 of wax, such as ara or the like. This also toughens an strengthens the sheet so as to prevent the edges from being readily torn. I
As a means for facilitating bending the outer edge of the sheet down over the edge of the seat, a series of small perforations 7 are formed around the sheet a short distance from its outer edge.
As a means for packagi the sheet and adapting it to be folded Into a compact space, it is provided with longitudinal fold lines 8, transverse fold lines 9, and diagonal fold lines 10, on which the sheet is folded into a se ent of four double layers as The containers and their contents may be pressed flat so that they will stack in .narrow tiers, which permits their being handled by dispensing machines.
I claim: a
1. A toilet seat protector comprising an annulus of craped paper having a waxed erforations adjacent to its outer edge, sai annulus having %ongitudinal, transverse and diagonal fold mes.
2. A toilet seat protector comprising an annulus of craped paper having a waxed margin and formed with perforations adjacent to its outer edge, said annulus having longitudinal, transverse and diagonal fold lines, and a cornucopia container for the reception of the annulus when folded and rolled.
