Be it known that I, CLARA ADELINE Mo- MILLAN, a citizen of the United States, re-

siding at New York, in the county of New 7 York and State of New York, have invented certain useful Improvements in Crib Attachments, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.

This invention relates broadly to improvements in that class of inventions known as beds and more particularly relatps to a collapsible crib attachment for a bet.

As the primary aim and object, the present invention contemplates the provision of a crib composed of a plurality of collapsible sections, means being arranged on one of the sections for removable engagement with the side of a bedstead to facil-tate the supporting of the crib when the sections thereof are in an extended form.

It an equally important object of the present invention to provide novel means for removably and pivotally connecting the spring carrying section to the main side section so that when the spring carrying section is not engaged on the side of the bedstead it may be readily supported in a suspended position on the main side section.

As a further improvement the present invention consists in the provision of end sections, means being provided for pivotally connecting the same to the main side section.

it is a more specific object of the pres eut invention to provide cooperative means on the spring carrying section and on the end sections for arranging these sections in removable engagement with each other when it is desired to place the crib in an extended form.

Among the other aims and objects of the present invention may be recited the provision of a device of the character mentioned with a view to compactness, and in which thenumber of parts are few, the construction simple, the cost of production low and the efficiency high.

Other objects as well as the nature, characteristic features and scope of this invention will be more readily apparent from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the claims, forming a part of this specification.

The invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective showing the invention in an extended form and attached to the side bar of a bedstead.

Fig. 2 is a front elevation showing the invention ina folded position.

Fig. 3 is a perspective detail showing part of the means for connecting the end pieces to the main side pieces.

Fig. 4 is a. fragmentary perspective detail of the spring carrying frame.

Similar characters of reference are employed in all of the above described views, to indicate corresponding parts.

Referring now, more particularly, to the accompanying drawings I have illustrated the side bar 1 of a bedstead and adapted to be connected to this side bar is my improved collapsible crib attachment designated in its entirety by the numeral 2.

In the present instance the crib attachment consists of a main side section and preferably embodies a pair of tubular supporting rods 3 connected at their upper ends and at points intermediate their ends by side bars 4 the latter in turn being connected at uniformly spaced intervals by vertical bars 5. The lower ends of the rods constitute feet 6 and have casters 7 connected thereto to facilitate movement of the crib sections about the floor when it is in a folded condition.

As intimated, a spring carrying section has been provided and in the present instance may be said to consist of a rectangular frame embodying side bars 8 and 9 connected at their respective ends by end bars 10 and 11. In order to pivotally connect the spring carrying section to the rods 3 the end piece 11 is extended to provide a hook 12 which terminates in a head 13 adapted for removable engagement in a vertical slot 14: in one of the rods at a point substantially intermediate its ends as indicated in Figs. 1 and 4:, the engagement being effected by first arranging the frame in a vertical plane so as to insert the head and finally extending it to a horizontal plane. The opposite end piece is extended and has a ring or loop 15 formed thereon in which is universally connected another ring 16 from which projects a head 17 which is similar in construction to the head 13. It is to be noted, however that that because of the arrangement of the links the head 17 may be readily placed in a corresponding slot 18 in the adjacent rod 3 and adjusted by twist ing it to a horizontal plane. In attaching the spring carrying section to the side bar 1 the respective ends of the bars 10 and 11 are extended beyond the adjacent side bar 8 and terminate in hooks 19. The

spring carried by the frame consists pro-- ferably in a plurality of pivotally connected links 20 which arearranged longitudinally and transversely of the frame or section.

The end sections 21 are preferably composed of square frames which are braced by vertical bars 22 the upper and lower ends having loops 23 formed thereon which are pivotally engaged in the vertically arranged loops 24: formed in spaced relation on the rods 3 so that the sections may be pivotally supported on the said rods. Hooks 25 are pivoted to the lower portions of the frames of the end sections adjacent the free ends and are engageable with ears 26 formed on theterminals of the side bar 8 of the springcarrying section for removably holding the end sections in an extended position.

When it is desired to place the crib attachment in a collapsed form the hooks 25 are disengaged from the ears 26 to permit of the end sections to be swung inwardly so that they will lie in juxtaposed relation with respect to the upper part of the main side'section. The hooks 19 of the spring carrying section are now removed from the side bar 1 and the spring carrying section is allowed to fall into a suspended position in juxtaposed relation with the legs 6 whereupon the side section may be rolled, for instance to a position behind the bedstead (not shown) Where it can be left when not in use. It is thought from the foregoing description that 'a further detailed description of the operation of the invention is unnecessary. Likewise it is thought that the advantages of the invention will be readily apparent.

It will be understood that the above description and accompanying drawings comprehend only the general and preferred embo'di'ment of my invention and that various minor changes. in detail of construction, proportion and arrangement of the parts may be made within the scope of the appended claims and without sacrificing any of the advantages of my invention.

A collapsible crib attachment for bedsteads including a main side section embodying tubular rods which serve as legs and means for connecting the rods, the rods being provided with vertical slots intermediate their ends, a spring carrying section, means extending from one end of the said spring carrying section for removable engagement with the slots for facilitating pivotal suspending of the spring carrying section on the main side section, engaglng means universally connected to the opposite end of the spring carrying section and removably and pivotally engaged in the slot in the adjacent rod for also facilitating the pivotal suspendin section, hooks pro ecting from the opposite ends of the spring carrying section for enagement with the side bar of a bedstead to A acilitate the supporting of a crib, ears formed on the respective outer ends of the spring carrying section, end sections pivotally connected to the upper portions of the rods, and hooks pivoted to the end sections and removably engageable in the ears in the spring carrying section for preventing accidental disengagement of the end sections.
